So I got a Dell U2713HM. Paid £440 pounds which included delivery from Dell website.
Wow, I have to say this is such a shit product that anyone looking for a new screen should stay away from it.
This thing is advertised as "factory calibrated with accurate rich colors" yet upon plugging in the screen I noticed a yellow light bleed glow coming from the lower left corner of the screen.
Here is exactly what it looks like sitting in front of it, this is with the brightness reduced from the default 75 to 35 to try and reduce the light bleed.
Yes the colours are great when using it for web browsing or looking at pictures, but anything with a dark screen makes the monitor completely useless.
First thing I did was to look online and discover many more people with the same issue. On the offical dell forum, dell representatives are saying this about the issue:
we do not validate our monitors in a dark room. We use standard office lighting. Dell monitors do not have 100% backlight uniformity specification. As long as the center 2" circle meets our manufacturer specifications, it is acceptable.
So they call this within spec?
Next thing was to call Dell techincal helpline. The guy told me this problem had been reported before and the monitor was performing as intended, he could send a replacement but it would be exactly the same. Therefore I could have a refund based on a techincal issue which could not be resolved with a replacement.
It's still shocking that they are trying to sell this thing hoping people won't notice the obvious problems with it.
