It will only start to break when post IDs get to the limits of their storage, which in phpBB (I believe) is a unsigned mediumint in MySQL, which is 3 bytes. So as long as we don't do more than 2^24 = 16,8 million posts, we'll be fine. That's total by the way, not per topic, although per topic the same limit exists. The total amount of pages would by that logic be 1118482 pages.
I believe NeoThermic has at some point claimed that the universe will explode at 16.8 million posts - this is why.

Worst-case, we could always throw an unsigned int in the general direction of the table... that'd allow us 4,294,967,295 posts... Or, failing that a BIGINT (which should never be discussed without the caps!) which would allow 18,446,744,073,709,551,615 posts...
I'll leave the maths of how long it'd take us to fill 4.3 billion and 18 quintillion (short scale; trillion on the long scale) posts respectively at the rate of posts in this thread. Bonus points for working out how many pages that'll be and how much storage that'd require using the stats from whenever they were last run...

I enjoyed it, because I really wasn't expecting too much. I enjoyed the original (as much as it can be enjoyed from the first download I found ), and I knew that whatever they do with it can't really be better. I got what I expected, really - it was fun, I'd recommend it, but there are other movies I'd recommend far more.
