I read somewhere that the minimum specs include a dual-core processor or better. :(

Oh. It was added in the OB engine update.

Wikipedia also claims that Left4Dead will run on a Pentium 4, which is single-core. Hmm...

STEAM says L4D has min spec P4 3Ghz, dual core recommended.

The Source engine take advantage of however many threads you have, which is why if you have a single core, it needs a high clock speed.

Just played the demo of Tomb Raider: Underworld. It doesn't seem too bad, although I wonder how much more fan service-y they can get short of getting the gal naked.

So my ol' machine is finally hitting the bare min spec for games....

AMD XP 2800+
2 Gig OCz DDR400 Dual Channel mode
WinXP sp3
EVGA NV 7800 GS CO 256M GDDR3
2x250 Gig EIDE ATA 133 7200 rpm hard drives.
DLink Wireless Ethernet PCI card.
Montego DDL soundcard.

And to think I've been running this rig for about years now.

Guess it's finally time to upgrade........
