One of those looks like "nuke the helll out of Cairo"... which us a bit of a shoe-in, Cairo always gets it! Still, signed up for Hijinks. Only yesterday I was suggesting my housemate try the demo on his Ubuntu box.

Same here. I could only beat it in 1 vs 1, by waiting out his nuke assault.

This probably a stupid question, but I really don't know anything about the steam account and so on:
Can I assume that people who have bought defcon directly from IV, will not benefit from this patch?

Probably not, these are Steam Achievements so only available to the Steam version.
Uplink help: Check out the Guide or FAQ.
Latest Uplink patch is v1.55.

Are their any others differences between the "Steam version" and "Direct version"?
I always thought, that they were the same program just sold via different channels. :shock:

The game itself is the same. The only differences are these achievements and not having to enter/remember an authentication key (since Steam does it for you).
