Steam Defcon beta testers required

Postby Chris » Fri May 07, 2010 4:19 pm

We are currently putting the final finishing touches to a brand new patch for Defcon on the Steam platform, and we would like to invite you to help us beta test the new features. We've had quite a lot of fun designing some evil achievements - artwork below. If you have a Steam account and would like to help us test, please sign up at this link: (You will need an Introversion forum account to sign up)

Testing should be starting sometime next week. Hope you like the new achievement icons :)

Thanks everyone!

Ditto.

[Though I don't have nor want a steam account, any Defcon related testing is awesome]

Hmm, I'd consider trying this, but I was never that good at Defcon. :/

I haven't played it for several years so I'm likely to be equally bad, which could be a good thing since we could determine how difficult it is to get the achievements.

Oooh, shiny! Let the achievement speculation start. The first ones are obviously simple "Nuke city X" things. Hmm. Killing 50 silos/landing 50 nukes on silos? Winning a speed defcon game? Killing an enemy sub? Dunno about the one with the globe. Landing successful sub nukes? Dunno about the two dudes and the bombers. Naval Nuking (Kill 50 ships with nukes)! Backstabbing! Winning a game using only half of your arsenal? Dunno about the last three.

I joined. Maybe this time I'll get to learn how to play it a bit.

Awesome, I totally didn't see this coming. I wonder what else Introversion are sneakily developing?

This could be a great excuse to screw around in defcon a bit more. :D

Maybe some improved path finding in Defcon and (Dar/Multi)winia?!

I would guess that they are just integrating Steamworks into the game. Hopefully they'll make a big deal about it (perhaps a sale or some promotion) and get a bunch of new customers. Defcon is a great game and more people should play it.

Hmm... I do want to finally have the last Introversion game on my Steam account, however I know that I don't like Defcon and would not play it at all..

I'll pass.

It IS awesome though! :D

This explains the mysterious pre-loading I have had on Steam after downloading the demo (so that I could play Defcon on any computer without having to have my CD lying around to install it).
