You will be sent the boxed copy after the game is released, and be given a link to download a few hours *before* the game is released.

If I buy the boxed copy, will I be able to play it on Steam as well? (This also raises the question if the Steam version multiplayer is connected with the boxed version multiplayer)
Also... If I buy the boxed copy, will I be able to play the linux version when it come out? (Just like Darwinia)

Entering my informations, etc, and then i got :
"Vendor name : "introversion" is not recognized..." etc, and cancelling the checkout :/

It asks you for a vendor name? Is that on Steam?

No, it was from IV store, so, they are giving themself the name...
Seems that something is not working between my bank and them, maybe, i dont know, in fact ;)

I'll try by Steam, so, i think, but i wanted a box, pfff :P

Yes. Chris confirmed it in a thread in the general DEFCON discussion forum.

Yes, purchasing the Boxed Windows copy from the IV store will allow you to play on Linux when the Linux version is released.

No, purchasing the boxed copy will not allow you to register DEFCON on steam.

Wow, that's cheap. I would have thought you'd go for the $20 price-point for initial Steam sales with a $2 discount for preorders. You've gone completely bonkers.

Well I only just created a Steam account and what do I get presented with as soon as I sign in? Thats right, a lovely piece of advertising which is sure to get Defcon noticed.

Yep, I noticed that ^^
It's also the centre-piece of the Steam-Powered page.

Darwinia has also featured there a few times, as has Uplink. It really is so heartwarming to see these games featured so prominently.

You WILL be able to play games against people with both the boxed copy, and the Steam version.
You WILL NOT be able to register the boxed version to your Steam apps.
