Beta Testing began today

Today we kicked off the Defcon beta test - we are now in the final phases of this games development. 100 Testers have been chosen from the list of applicants, and emailed instructions on how to download the first alpha.
We have developed a ton of new networking technology for this game (server matching, authentication, lan play etc) so the first builds will be designed to test just that. This means they are unplayable. Testers can start games and join games, via internet or LAN, but once the game starts their team is controlled by AI and they can only watch. This will enable us to safely test the new networking systems before (eventually) moving on to the full game.

Congratulations to the selected testers - we hope you like what you see!

Congratulations, beta testers.

Maybe on (the fourth game) for me.

No no no, it's <the next game>. Remember?

Ah, no. Darwinia was <the next game>. Defcon is <the third game>, and the game after that is <the forth game>(sp) (previously known as <the next next game>).

Well technically it went as such.

Before being named, Darwinia was <the next game> while the game that would be coming out after that would be <the next next game>. Once Darwinia was named, <the next next game> became <the next game>, this continues till Defcon was named, when the game after Defcon is now <the next game>.

Are you sure about that? I thought that consensus reached was that Darwinia was, is, and always shall be <the next game>, while Defcon is <the third game>. Whatever comes next is either <the next next game> or <the fourth game> (or maybe <four>).

I disagree. To me, Darwinia will always be <the next game>, so Defcon will always be either <the next next game> or <the third game> :)

You are incorrect, as Chris' post clearly specifies the game after Defcon as <the forth game>, not <the fourth game>.

congrats!

Indeed, congratulations for everyone who made the test group. Hopefully the sight of MAD as you set-up and configure matches is wondrous indeed. Essentially this is a screen saver in a way. I wonder how input would work with my tablet. Ah well, progress is good.
