I could say so many things to that. But instead, I say only this:

Shut. Up.

Actually, I was thinking more also the lines of "buy the game, and stop acting proud of having warezed it, because that's done NOTHING of any value for Introversion.

Dr4goN wrote:So, do it right now!

Very well.

You saying that there would be more sales by selling Darwinia for only 10 quid isn't just stupid, it's an insult to the time, effort, and personal expense that Chris, Mark, Tom, John, Andy, Alistair, and Michael put into making this game.

What I hear from you is that you seem to think that over two years of development, and receiving, quite literally, countless awards for their efforts, should already be reduced to the bargain bin. This is when it was already clearly stated that Introversion is going through some rough times. You're basically telling them to fold now.

If you had actually bought the game instead or warezing it, your thoughts might hold some ground. However, I doubt that you will EVER buy the game, no matter how little it is you would pay. Your excuse of not having it sold in shops where you live is now, as has always been, null and void. You could always buy it online and have it shipped to you. You just decided not to. Even at a reduced price, you still didn't pay for what you stole.

I can't speak for the community, but as for me, what you say has no value here. Nachii usta.

I'm fully behind Kyuu here - Darwinia would be selling well if it weren't for the morally bankrupt people like you who abuse the trust Introversion gives their users (lack of copy protection, allowing the game to start without a CD etc) by warezing it.

I'm with Kyuu 100%. The behavior that Dr4goN has displayed is beyond insulting. Two things in particular disgust me more than anything else:

1) Dr4goN claims to like the game. He seems to want to be active in the community here, but insults us all by wearing his piracy like a badge of honor. Dr4goN: get a clue -- this is IV's board to discuss IV's game. The folk here are ardent supporters of IV. You cannot come here and yell "I pirated the game!" at the top of your lungs and expect to get any kind of respect, feedback, or love. Buy the game or get lost.

2) Furthermore, you insult IV. As Kyuu said, Chris, Mark, Tom, John, Andy, Alistair, and Michael put a lot of time, effort, and money into Darwinia. It is a high quality game. By suggesting that Darwinia be sold for £10, you are suggesting that Darwinia is a piece of crap. Most games now sell for $40-$70 (I assume that you could replace the dollar sign with a pound sign, and be about right). At $30, Darwinia is a steal. At anything less, it gets tossed into a bargain bin, and no one buys it because bargain games aren't worth playing. Stop insulting everyone here, and buy the game.

I am sorry if Polish currency sucks so much that the game is pricey. Such is life. American currency sucks right now, but I shelled out nearly $35 for two posters (a total of £12 for both posters and shipping). I bought the game when it first came out, for $40. I have done this on about a time and a half minimum wage (they don't pay teachers very much here, and I am not a fully fledged-certified teacher, though I am working on it). If I can scrape together enough cash to buy the game, then I am sure that you can, too.

However, I don't think that is really the issue. You seem proud of the fact that you have not paid for the game. If it were up to me, I would give you a week to buy the game, then boot your sorry ass from these boards, and disable your account. That's just me, though.

This is partly why I didn't say anything before - I seem to have opened a whole new can of worms.

Still, I think all this needed to be said. It's not up to me whether Dr4goN stays or goes, and it's also not my decision. While we he may be able to be removed, I honestly don't think doing so would fix anything. I say he stays here with the tainted record he gave himself.

Apologies to Introversion if they feel my opening of the subject (and moreover, hijacking this thread) seems out of line.

I myself had a warezed copy of Uplink which was given to me by a friend. I loved the game, though, and not only did I buy the Dev CD, I bought the game directly from IV. I figured it was the least I could do to support them properly.

Anyway, I found myself coming back to Uplink, and I find that Darwinia is out (the anticipated 'next game') and that IV is on the edge of extinction.

Well, I can't let that happen! So I'm buying Darwinia. Right now. Probably the soundtrack as well. I'm iffy on the posters, though; I'm not a poster sort of guy. Anyway, if you claim to like Darwinia and IV so much, you really should buy the game. It's for a good cause, after all.

I used to post regularly on here, now I just lurk as I have many other things that I do. I am thrilled to see the online store going active, but I am saddened to see that IV is dying a slow death. Even in PC Gamer this month it mentions it, and it disheartens me no end because IV was the first online community I ever joined. I made friends through it, went to the launch party, visited friends in England. If it wasn't for Introversion and Uplink I would not be where I am today. I owe them big time. Hence even though I got a free copy of Darwinia for being a beta tester, I also bought it.

However since the first day Dr4goN was on here he has done nothing but annoy people in all sorts of ways. He openly admits to stealing the game, and is in fact proud of it. Yet he has the sheer gall to nitpick Introversion. I'm sorry, you aren't a paying customer, you have no say here. People like Dr4goN are responsible for the death of many indie gaming companies. They are perfectly content to shell out cash for "WW2 Clone FPS 2006", but refuse to pay less for something truely innovative. I never wish harm to others online, but Dr4goN, I hope you get hit by a snowplough.

It looks like the rumors of IVs death have been greatly exaggerated. It seems like Darwinia was just a slow starter. :)

I second that. Make it a really large snowplough, truck-size. Dr4goN, you have no shame in doing injustice to a bunch of guys who did more good to this community than you could possibly imagine doing yourself, D (....unless you donate all your organs for free).

You think I'd want to spend the rest of my life with one of Dr4g0n's kidneys? No-thank-you.

Then he'll become a soul and float up to our own central repository.

Where's that incubator...
