Long standing Introversion fans will remember Kieron as the writer of the original PC Gamer review of Uplink, as well as the PC Format review and Eurogamer review of Darwinia. He's also written a host of other articles and features about our company. Recently he delivered a Keynote speech at the Freeplay conference in Australia titled "How to use and abuse the gaming press", and Introversion Software is featured heavily as his case study. It's a fascinating account from the other side of the fence - with some great insights into what we did right and what we got wrong from their point of view. And it's a goldmine of great advice to any other indie games companies who want more exposure for their games.
Click here to read his summary of what he said.
Speaking of conferences, we've all just got back from a 3 day trip to the Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival. Darwinia was nominated for the Edge award (which we didn't win, sadly), and Mark and Andy gave a fantastic hour long presentation discussing the making of Darwinia, why the games industry is doomed to wallow in stagnation, and why its all the publishers fault. We'll post a more detailed account including pictures soon.

There's a line in his write up that makes me smile:
It seems that not only are IV a force to be with, us followers are powerful as well
Its quite an intresting read, so if anyone hasn't RTFLA, you're missing out (thats Read The Fine Linked Article!)

When Uplink’s was first released Introversion faked forum accounts to spread the word.
When Darwinia’s demo was first released, they didn’t need to. They had a small arm of devotees willing to do it for them.

Half-Life 2 won the best game award with The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure for the Gamecube and Halo 2 for the Xbox coming just behind.
Just to demonstrate the interesting choices of the judges, Nintendo was selected best publisher, followed by Rockstar and Ubisoft. How Nintendo is the best publish I have no idea.
