Vote for Darwinia in the Edinburgh Peoples Choice Award

Postby Chris » Fri Aug 05, 2005 9:57 am

Regular readers will know that Darwinia has been nominated for the Edge award at this years Edinburgh Interactive Entertainment Festival. That particular award is judged by a panel of industry insiders. However the same shortlist is used in The Peoples Choice Award, and this award is open to the public vote. And we need your help!

You need to visit the Edge Online page to vote for us - click here to go straight there. Voting closes on August 21st.

The winners of the Edge Award will be announced during the EIEF, running from 10th-14th August. Introversion Software will be there to look gracious in defeat and accept the free food and drink. We will also be giving a 1 hour long presentation about the making of Darwinia during the Game Screenings event. This event is open to the public and you can buy tickets. Mark and Andy will be handling the screening on Friday 12th August at 2.00pm. Tickets cost £3 and you can buy them here.

Finally, although we did say the Beta of the new Darwinia Demo would be starting today, we must apologise and tell you that actually we need another few days. We are now hoping to start the new beta phase before the EIFF, which means we want to launch on or before the 9th August.

Voted! For Half Life 2 of course... you didn't say WHO you wanted us to vote for now did you? :P

Also, from the Develop Awards shortlist: Best New PC IP Category: Darwinia (Introversion Software) - "The name sounds odd, the game looks even stranger: appropriate traits for this low budget, indie-published title from the self styled Last of the Bedroom Programmers. You can't argue with a 90% score in PC Gamer, though"

I voted, but for God of War. I mean, its a GOD! of WAR! How could you not love it!

Actually, I have never played any of the other games, so it made voting for Darwinia that much easier. ^_^

I question the tastes of the people who compiled that list. Aside from Darwinia, there are maybe 2 other games that should be on there. Im sure I could come up with a dozen games more suited to be on that list with little enough trouble. Oh well.
