Shape files and Exporter released
After numerous requests we have decided to release the shape files used to create Darwinia. They were all modelled in 3d Studio MAX 5, but should work ok in other versions. We have also released our Shape Exporter, which you can use to make changes to these files and re-export them into the game for use in your own mods. We've included all the MAX files we created for Darwinia, some of which didn't actually make it into the finished game.
These shapes were created by Michelle Jones, Kelvin Liew, and Chris Delay.
I've added a Modding page to the community section, where you will find the downloads for the shape files and the exporter, as well as some installation instructions for the exporter.

uhmm.. had a student version of version 5 buts its not working anymore :-/
but my 3D school might have one i could buy very cheap since.. well ye its an old version..
but they don't open from their summer vacation before the 26th :-/
And thats the day i have to go get some measurements for some of my work

Max plugins tend to only work with the exact version of Max they were designed for. If you cant get Max 5, my converter will work with at least versions 6 and 7 of Max. Get it at http://www.nihilesthetics.info/darwinia-modding.htm
Two problems with my converter on these models that have been released
1. Markers
2. Child/Parent fragments
So you will have to do a bit of post-conversion manipulation, but Ill be releasing an updated version of the converter shortly that will deal with these.
