Gameplay videos for download

Postby Chris » Thu Mar 17, 2005 8:22 pm

We have added two gameplay videos for download in the About section of the website. The first is 30 seconds in length, the second is 60 seconds in length. You will need Apple Quicktime installed to view these videos. The videos show some wicked in-game combat, and the longer video demonstrates the gesture system in action. Some people had requested these, and they do a good job of showing the game being played.

Iris sent us a wicked poster/advert shortly before release day and it sat in Chris's inbox for ages. But we thought it was so cool we just had to print it. Head over to our Extras section and look under Adverts, and you'll find the poster. Thanks Iris!

- Chris and Andy are featured in a three page interview in Game Developer Magazine (US), on sale now.
- We placed a full page advert for Darwinia in this months PC Gamer magazine (UK). Check it out in stores now.

Wow, I like the extra poster, very very well done Iris :)

As for the movie? I'll get back to that in just around 7 mins and come back to edit this post with my thoughts...

-Edit-
The movie is quite good. A bit of careless play of letting the virus take a few of the squad, but fun non the less! It does stop at 54 seconds though... :)

Finally, shouldn't you be on holiday Chris? ;)

A few things. I let the 60-second one load while i also download it. It downloaded to disk just fine, but it never loaded, even while I type this.

Also, the 60-second video is 54 seconds long, not nitpicking here, but it goes completely white before the airstrike guy do thier thing, and just kinda dies.

I can tell from the 30 second one what should have been there, though ;)

Same here. When I try to open the movies, I get the following error message:

Code: Select all

You may experience problems playing a video track in "30sec.mov" because the required compressor could not be found.  Would you like to close the movie or continue?
<Close>  <Continue>

If I hit continue, I can play all of the sound, but see none of the video. This applies to both the 30 second and the 60 second videos.

I'm assuming just a standard MOV type. Not sure why you're missing that one. Either way, if you pefer an AVI:

http://www.neothermic.com/darwinia/60sec2.rar [7.6M]

You'll need an Xvid compatable codec for it, which isn't hard to find.

I got a popup saying INSTALL INDEO 4 OH EM GEE when I tried to view them. I think...

Maybe that's the issue?

Cool, will check the videos out later.

But I still can't see any of the posters or adverts on the advert page for some reason. Could anybody be kind enough to post the links to the images?
