Sweet!! Thumbs up for responsive developers. I had commented on some issues with the demo(i was able to pass it just fine but there were some things that weren't very intuitive).

I was just worried that the demo might scare away potential buyers.

This game deserves as much attention as it can get.

What is the estimated time of arrival on the new demo? Cannot wait... I'd estimate that the learning curve for me was ~1 hour for Darwinia.

I second the idea of a "director's cut" of Uplink, packed with mods like FBI and new graphics. Maybe that could be a community project if IV doesn't want to tackle it?

I can see how Darwinia can be confusing to a first time player.
To one who're experienced with a plethora of game types (and not to mention those who had tested the game) it can be easy as clicking 1-2-3.
But to a new player, Darwinia deploys an almost entirely new gameplay notion and control mechanisms.
The environment itself is disorienting and unfamiliar from anything before seen.

Things that could assist:
For the demo, having the help guide you, as the initial test release did, scripting it step by step on what to do.

In general, having the tooltip (the good Doc showing up to explain what an ojbect is and how it works) be on shorter delay by default and configured via the options (advanced players may want it to never show up again, beginners would have it jump up every time).
An ingame help tree that will contain a detailed explenation that will cover just about everything, mostly recommended to be built from player guides' information.

Personally I don't think you need to add any more help, without seeing your website help page I've completed the demo level three times. A different way each time.
GENERATION 22:The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and add 1 to the generation. Social experiment.

The added help won't be a problem for those who don't need it. It's just there for people who are having troubles.

Actually, I'm still hosting the old one, but why you'd want the "bugged" one is beyond my grasp ._.

If you really want the old one for some reason, FileRush still has it.
Don't think about The Game.

hmm... if it's about the tutorial being a hassle, you can always press 'T' (which I noticed after annoyingly thinking for 10 mins that I had to complete the tutorial every time I wanted to play :P)
