Beta phase continues with new versions and new testers

Postby Chris » Mon Dec 20, 2004 3:15 am

Today we released no less than four new versions of Darwinia to the beta testers, and added 300 people to the program. It's been a busy day. Here is a short list of what happened :

- win32-demo-beta4 was released for demo testers
- 200 new testers were added to the win32 demo test, bringing the total to 400
- win32-full-beta 4 was released for full game phase 2 testers
- macosx-demo-beta4 was released
- 100 new testers were added to the mac demo test, bringing the total to 200
- macosx-full-beta4 was released for full game testers

We were planning to start the linux phase1 testing today, but a few last minute problems got in our way. Hopefully we will be starting the linux test soon. We now have over 600 testers working on tracking down bugs in the game.

Sweet mother of code......that is one hell of a lot of people. All the better to catch any niggly little bugs I guess. Keep up the good work guys.

This is great, I have been hanging out for the linux beta, if only to ensure that things are done right in the linux sense so I can happily buy and recommend the game.

Yay for all the 600 people tracking down bugs!

Nay for me not being one of them :(

Ahhh well. I'll enjoy it all the more when it comes out officially.

 That are a lot of people testing the software. Keep up the good work guys.

To bad I'am not one of them, but I will wait my turn, or wait for the official release.

Wasn't picked again. Still, my hardware isn't old enough to make my betatesting worthwhile.

More power to IV!

P.S. When do you begin to accept preorders?

Error on website

Postby Kakistos » Tue Dec 21, 2004 1:28 pm

Hi Chris :D

Just downloaded my beta version of Darwinia, but I'd like to point out a problem I had with the website. :(

When I go to the beta download page, I can see and download the system information tool, but the actual link to download wasn't visible. I had copy and paste from the source.

cheers

Which place could you not see it? There's a page with yellowish buttons with options downloading beta and sys info tool for linux, win 32, mac and there's the other page you get to after this with a download button down the bottom. Maybe you need to check/change your browser settings to be able to view them
The button down the bottom seems to have a code built in to log the download (to enforce the 3 download rule). Maybe this stops you seeing it.
