Yup, only america. And considering that America is a big country, the money IV got off it were just as big. I hoped you could get to that on your own. Again, you amaze me with your imbecility.

As for what IV said, I don't really trust them. Of course, they would like to finish the game, you would like to play it, so they said the thing everyone wanted to hear. I don't know if you distinguish the facts from the promises - for you seem not to. Just because IV said that, it doesn't mean it will be possible - and what should they do if that would be true? Sit down and say "sorry guys, we're stopping darwinia at this moment and going back to window cleaning, bye!"? No, they would try to make the game.

As an uplink fan, you should know that trust is a weakness...

America is by far NOT the biggest country in the world. It has a population of ~200million. China, has ~1200million. So go figure how much more money Iv could make there.

Secondly, as Stews pointed out (which you seemed to have nicely missed) SF isn't the sole supplier in the US. And the fact Uplink was on sale for a good year and a bit before Iv signed the dotted line with SF, most Gamers who had heard about Uplink had bought it online (looks at Stews). And the whole news posts from Iv prove what Stews have said. WELL DONE NEWB WHO DOESNT KNOW THE HISTORY OF THIS COMPANY. Etc.

The whole point of signing SF was to get the game into the high street shops where people who hadn't already heard of Uplink could get it.

Iv hasn't lost its income just because SF cant pay at the moment. Its like some guy having an office job, a window cleaning job, and an ebay seller job. One day he gets told he's getting fired from the office. He can still live on the other jobs until he gets a new office job.

Good that you dont want Iv to break up. Well done. But I trust them. If you dont, your choice. But why stick around if you think they aren't gonna finish this game?

Do you have anything to prove that?

In addition to what the others have already pointed out, the debug logs found on the Uplink forums are almost all non-Strategy First ones. Also the Strategy First versions were in stores for only a few weeks. :)

Yes, that is true, of course. At the same time, the piracy percentage in China is about 72%, where among personal users it is about 99%. And that means IV didn't get much money there..

And I'm staying here to be a beta tester. And to hope that IV will make this game.

The US market are cooling down. Alot of companies are going under. Especially after that enron business. Its small wonder that SF wasnt going to suffer. Ok IV has ebay etc to sell direct to the customer and they knew about it before it happened, which is a good thing. But now IV hasnt a publishier to distribute to stores in the US. Which kinda sucks.

Heh. I was using the ebay bit as an example, Iv dont sell Uplink via that.

And if SF die, then Iv will never get their money ;) I say, LIVE SF! LIVE!

Etc.

Uplink hasn't been in US stores for a good while now. With games like this you can only expect a few weeks maybe two months of shelf time, and for Uplink that has already past. :)

One busness man in Poland had both his kidneys cut out alive, as a pay for his debt. I don't know if he survived the process though, for he was, imho, supposed to.

Same to the boss of SF.

We have those kidney theft stories in the US too, but they are just urban myths at least here. :)

It was in the news a few years ago, 3 or 4. Sorry if I can't find it in the archives nowhere. I think the people who did it are still out there. (not a suprise in Poland)

I can't tell if it's a legend, since I don't know anyone with their kidneys stolen. A right arm is a different matter, but it is not an internal organ. Beside, that was more a fight than selling people apart.

edit: Oh, when you do have some time, go to Poland. Apart from being a poor country, there is no industry here. Well, there was, but it has been sold and closed down. So, we have fresh air and clean water. And when going to the poorer regions, many, MANY thing will suprise, or rather shock you.

I'm actually planning for another trip to Europe in the Spring. I was thinking about doing something in the mountains, maybe in Slovakia, but I think it will probably be too early for that with snow and all. I may end up further south, Spain, Greece, Italy, or maybe even France. :)

Thanks for all your support. The SF thing was harsh but we could see it coming for a long time. Darwinia will be finished, and looks like we're still go for an early 2005 release.

We're currently talking to a much larger publisher about a US Shop release for Darwinia, but again we'll be selling direct to you guys too. As some of you have rightly pointed out - that's our lifeline - without it we'd be definitely washing windows...
