Given that it is generally the Russians and Indians who are best at chess, I don't really fancy the UK and US chances in a nuclear chess match. Although Bobby Fisher did beat Boris Spassky, so maybe there would be hope. Of course he is now in Iceland, so he might not be of much help.

No kidding. In four months of living in Siberia, I won two games of chess. Both of them were against a 10 year old. I played hundreds of games during that time. And, while I am not amazing at chess, I'm not terrible, either.

Most of the people I played against were about my age -- 16-18. I also played a bit against my host family, and several of the teachers at the school that I attended. The 10 year old was a cousin of the family that hosted me.

As in the past, chosen beta-testers will most likely receive either an email with a download link, or an email requesting them to send in name/address information in order to have a CD mailed to them. Either way, you'll probably get an email.
Edit: I was guessing about the CDs, as I thought that's how they had distributed Darwinia to the Phase 2ers. My mistake.

Chosen beta testers should be getting an email with the information. If they are going to be testing the full game, then they will need to print and fill out and mail in an NDA "Non Disclosure Agreement" included in the email before they will be allowed to start the beta.
If they are doing phase1/phase2 testing like last time then there might not be an NDA to fill out for the first round.
I doubt IV will be mailing CD's out and will be using secured downloads for the beta.

There is no patch for human stupidity.

Right now, IV are only asking for Win32 beta testers. They have not yet announced either Mac or Linux testing yet. If experience is to be a guide, the Win32 testers will have it for a few weeks before the Mac betas are even announced. After that, it will probably be a few more weeks while IV picks testers. So, it will be a while before you can even apply, followed by a few weeks before you know.

Doon't worry, when they start accepting MAC beta testing, you wont have to worry about submiting again
It's advanced planning
On another topic,
Anyone got any ideas for to sign up for the linux beta test when it emerges if your already in the windows beta test...
Never got round to it with darwinia
