What's wrong with those "smooth lines" ???

Postby neologic » Thu Jul 17, 2008 7:15 pm

Well, Defcon worked very very good on my Thinkpad R60e laptop (Intel GM945). But after I reinstalled my system (From Slackware 11.0 to 12.1) Defcon becomes unplayable with smooth lines enabled ? Well, it's ok because I can play now, but anybody knows what's the problem with those smooth lines ?

Well, the Intel chips are notoriously low in performance either way, and it could be that the driver writers decided to drop support for hardware accelerated smooth (antialiased) lines from one system to the next because there were problems with it. And with OpenGL, if a feature is not supported in hardware, the standard says it needs to be emulated in software, which is slow.
