First, in order to get non-angry replies, don't post screenshots that stretch the forum and
force people to either scroll horizontally or add artificial linebreaks in their posts (which is what
I'm doing now).
Second, No Linux version is running fine here.
Have you tried NOT running them side by side, and have you tried a recent Windows version?

"Have you tried NOT running them side by side?"
yes...
"and have you tried a recent Windows version?"
im not running windows at all in that screen shot. they both start - and run - just fine. i thought it would be clear from the thread title and screen shot - i will clarify:
- i purchased the windows version of defcon
- recently, the linux version was released
- the windows key does not work on the linux version, meaning i can only do demo stuff
- i have heard there is something you can do to make them magically transfer your key over
=)

With "recent Windows version", I meant a recent version of Defcon for Windows.
You're running 1.3 in the screenshot, current is 1.43.
Sorry for wording this in a confusing way.
And the "recently" in "recently, the linux version was released" is "over one year ago"
How did you transfer the authkey? if you just copied over the file from the Windows installation,
there may be end of line code difference problems.

lol, yeah but i just heard about this game recently... so to me, it is recent
i didn't do anything to transfer the auth key, that is what i am seeking help on. all i did was type the same auth key in... kind of magically hoping it would work. i dont want to bother upgrading the windows version because i dont want to play the windows version.
