running on Ubuntu 64-bit

Postby phorn » Wed Jul 25, 2007 10:16 am

Hi,
I downloaded the 1.42 tarball, however I am unable to run the game.

I'm using a 8600 GTS with NVIDIA driver version 100.14.11
My kernel is 2.6.20

When I click the defcon script, I get a segfault.
So I ran it in GDB, but I did not get much of a meaningful stacktrace, except OpenGL calling into the pthread library:

Code: Select all

phorn@quad:~/Desktop/defcon-v1.42$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="$PWD/lib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATH"
phorn@quad:~/Desktop/defcon-v1.42$ gdb lib/defcon.bin.x86

As far as 32-bit compatibility, I have these three packages installed:
libc6-i386
ia32-libs
and the 32-bit libraries that came with the nvidia-installer.

Could I be missing some 32-bit libraries? But it seems then it wouldn't start at all in that case.

can anyone look into this! I really want to play a game with phorn soon, and he can't get it running on his system.
It could be an nvidia driver issue--but some guidance would be helpful
