fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!

Postby nukeman » Tue Jul 24, 2007 7:16 pm

Hi

I've downloaded the linux demo, extracted it & run ./defcon, initially I got a completely blank screen so I thought I would run it in a window so I created ~./.defcon/preferences.txt with the contents as below

ScreenWidth = 1024
ScreenHeight = 768
ScreenWindowed = 1
ScreenColourDepth = 24
ScreenRefresh = 60
ScreenZDepth = 24

So now running but still with a completely blank window I could now see the console messages which showed the following message scrolling by at quite arate until eventually the system hangs, I can't even control-alt-F6 to open another login window to kill defcon.

fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!
fglX11AllocateManagedSurface: __FGLTexMgrAllocMem failed!!
....

..
.

Some info about my system ..
Dual-core
Open-Suse 10.2 64 Bit
ATI Radeon X1950 PRO
ATI driver 8.38.6
Running as a ATI big desktop, ie two monitors side by side with a total screen area of 5120x1600

I've tried running the monitors in clone mode & single mode but still get the error message above..

Interestingly glxgears also does not display the gears although the text frame rate is displayed at 13000 FPS !

glxinfo | grep rendering reports that direct rendering is enabled.

Has anybody got any suggestions as to what I should check next ?

Thanks

Are those the closed ATI drivers? Maybe it would be worth switching to the open ones. After all, it does seem to be a problem with fglrx or whatever the hell it's called :P
