Laggy mouse - driAllocateTexture

Postby nyarly » Sat Jun 23, 2007 6:55 am

On my box, Defcon is unplayable. Rendering is smooth enough, but the mouse cursor updates so infrequently, I can't accurately select units.
I've turned off Smooth Lines, Anti-aliasing, and Lobby effects.

I'm running Gentoo, with a Radeon 9000 - using the radeon X11 driver. DRI is working properly, and glxgears runs about 1200 fps.

When I run Defcon from the command line, it emits the following error about 3-4 times a second:
[driAllocateTexture:636] unable to allocate texture

I don't see anything visually wrong with Defcon's display, but I suspect that whatever it's trying to do, the repeated texture load is the choke point.

So, used the ebuild instead of the installer, and the smallfonts mod. That works. Don't know why, but it solved it.
