Dear all,

recently, Czesiu and Speed Racer were involved in a beautiful battle (1v1 on SFCON server) which should be used to replace the original demo by Introversion. I had the chance to spectate and want to share my unique experience with you. If you are interested, you find the recordings here http://sfcon.demoszenen.de/dcrec/2012-07/1v1Random-2012-07-18_05.25.zip.

This first screenshot in Defcon 4 shows the complete advanced setting techniques of both opponents. While Speed Racer (Russia) has one "Tobi silo" near Alaska (is this you, Tobi?), Czesiu choses well distributed silos to make clicking easier when zoomed out. Also, the fleet arrangements are worth a view. Sixpacks all over the ocean are always a good idea, making navigation more easy. A nearly equal distribution of fleet on both oceans makes sure some ships will survive the first strikes. We will see in short if that worked.

So, the naval battle started around Defcon 3 in the pacific. Already a not very well coordinated attack by Speed Racer terminates the battleboats and CVs of Czesiu at once.
Image

Then , one of my favorite moments of this game occurs. A single fighter scouts out two airbases and two radar bases in Alaska. Unfortunately, Speed Racer used no bomber which would have scouted presumably full USA instead due to longer range.
Image

Consequently, Speed Racer terminates this Alaska thread at Defcon 1 by few nukes.
Image

This was inpolite, so Czesiu thought of revenge and commanded fire-at-will to his silos. Well, to one silo to be more exact. Note, that the main cities in Russia are targeted to collect maximum points from this launch.
Image

Beautifully, the silo's operator team decides to perform a split launch what makes very pretty screenshots for spectators like me. This is always good tactics as the opponent won't expect nukes from two sides. Additionally, watch the beginning of a massive bomber strike against uncleared territory in western Russia.
Image

A little bit later, the situation is more clear. Czesiu still sticks to the fundamental idea. Note the pacific subs of Czesiu hitting unprotected east Russian cities. These are basically the only points for USA.
Image

Still shocked by the split launch technique and a sudden quit of Czesiu, Speed Racer's pacific fleet opens fire.
Image

Then a counterstrike is prepared. Nice synchronization by the way - nearly perfect, much better than I could have done.
Image

Finally, the US are covered by nukes. No single silo survived this attack, also the meanwhile empty pacific subs of Czesiu were occasionally killed.
Image

I do not want to hide the final result. So here's the screen.

Nice battle, Czesiu and Speed Racer. I want to encourage everyone to copy the strategy shown here - especially when you are playing against me  . I hope, Czesiu, you find this forum post and read it and are not too angry with me. You have partly adapted quite well throughout the game, however you couldn't rescue anything due to the setting and your opponent's skill. Stay with us and beat him soon!

Update: Player ID of Speed Racer and Little green wheels is identical. Little green wheels was identified as Tobias by Kudayta in http://forums.introversion.co.uk/defcon/viewtopic.php?t=8400. This can explain his superior ability and the "Tobi silo" setting.
