Classic Battle Lines
Here's a game between me and Laika with an interesting initial naval engagement between two navies with classic set-piece battle lines:
http://sfcon.demoszenen.de/dcrec/2012-06/1v1Random-2012-06-15_09.13.zip
Laika's line first deforms according to my attack. He is then confronted with a decision: Seek to kill subs and risk fleet, or retreat and let subs go? He decides on the former, gets greedy (panics?), places six carriers on anti-sub, and loses half his fleet. Some decent free-style naval warfare follows (including a lost naval nuke across the seam at 00:49:00).
Unfortunately, at that point the game regresses when from 01:39:00 onward Laika pathetically begins calling for more speed (the game was already running at 2x). He buttresses his pleas by saying he must make a long-distance voyage to continue, yet the replay shows the remnant of his fleet sitting idle. I, of course, decline his request, because only a fool would allow themselves to be caught wrong-footed by a loaded bomber or sneaky bbs at 3x or more speed in a close game. Laika knows this. I interpret his pleas, therefore, to mean no more than "I fuked up and I only have 3 carriers and 6 bombers left and I am pissed," but it still saddens me. Had he stayed, he could have made a valiant effort and it would have been fun.

Tobias,
you are too slow player as for me. I do not want to play with you again. Anytime. Not in tourney games, nor in "friendly" ones.
XOXO,
Laika
PS
I hope we will stand friends
lol

I think I should mention that my point of view on balance of powers on the moment when I left is slightly different. Also, transferring subs to your eastern shore on second speed would make me very sad despite of outcome, that is why I refused to continue this game on your terms.
One more thing: I think we are talking about the game where I played with guy called empish, not Tobias. You didn't reveal yourself in game. I consider I could've just ignore your indignation.

Really? As I recall, we shared 1x speed more-or-less equally during the most intense naval part. I would go 2x, you would immediately go 1x, and vice-versa.

LOL. Join the parade with that son. No doubt this is a function of my play style. I go for the quick, big decision. When one loses to me, they usually get mauled. I'm sure this causes confusion, consternation, and frustration to players that otherwise consider themselves to be half-decent. Rarely are there close games. When I lose, which does happen, I in turn usually lose big as well. Win some lose some np.

You had your chance to demonstrate this and you chose to quit (= FAIL). As I said, you could have made a valiant effort and it would have been fun to find out, but don't think I'd let you go to my east coast uncontested. I would have been all over your remaining southeast asian cities etc. in the meantime, and your remaining silos would have been in jeopardy as well. Moreover, you needed to scout/kill my alaskan silo, and you would have paid dearly to do that. But again, we'll never know since you quit.
I played a game against [LISH] yesterday. After losing his navy he said "gg" and quit. I respect that. At least he was able to man-up to reality. At this point I am oblivious to silly complaints about aliases and speed, since I know they are just excuses (come on dude, quitting at < 02:00:00 is a rage quit plain and simple); and no one ever complains about aliases or speed when they beat me! So play whoever you want, idc, but i'll be around if you ever a desire a real contest.
First, I don't really care about your opinion anymore. Second, let interested people watch the recording and make their own conclusions. Third, as I said, I'm not going to play with you again. I think I pointed out the reason clear enough. If you will come to play under alias again, feel free to whine about my "ragequits" as much as you want.
Once more:
1) games with you too take too much time
2) there are enough of more skilled players who don't hide their nicknames and do not try to present themselves as noobs

Factual reporting on a rage quit is not whining, but it's good to know you've adopted this word into your vocabulary. Now, look into the mirror as you say it. I will not bother reporting on any future rage quits of yours, however, since you've publicly stated that this is your preferred method of exit when you run into an unknown player that defeats you.
tobias what do you think about this game between me and you?

i too ragequit because of the speed, which resulted in my loss (you played vs the ghost of my frustration!)
since then i have gotten my revenge (and learned to be a lot more patient against you!)

I remember that game. After having scouted for airbases I thought: "no way this dude can do anything with his fleet so far out and no air support," got over-confident, and did not devote enough bombers to the naval engagement. Not such a fine show on my part. I think you had that game won, but failed to pull the trigger. Whether you knew that in game is a different matter. Perhaps the threat of a single naval nuke disrupting your subs turned you off. Dunno. Odd to stay in game to only quit at that time. Our recent game with me as EU and you as SA, which you won, was far better imo. Not all territories will give you such AA shelter

nah, tobias is fine. i was getting more and more bored in that game, and was going through berring to restock but didn't want to do it at 5x speed. since that game i have learned to be patient and enjoy my time in the game more (i don't mind slow/long games anymore, i just try to relax).
tobias doesn't rageslow on purpose, and he will speed up as the game goes on. imo there are even slower top players out there than him, lol.

3) Puts on an insanely pompous victim act and makes threads like this whenever people call him on it.

Protip: That doesn't say anything good about you.
