Dissecting Defcon - So Bad It's Rad

Starring: Baton, South America, Tobias and Turgon

Recording: http://sfcon.demoszenen.de/dcrec/2012-02/SFCON-League-2012-02-25_14.37.zip

Sure... we all have bad days with Defcon. You can't really call yourself a "real" player if you haven't had one (or two... or more...)

Just say for instance, you forgot to place a few units... Whoops! Or that stray seanuke turned your entire fleet into fishfood. Oops!

Yes, we all have our fair share of bad games.
But sometimes, something really special comes anong...

...Sometimes, Just sometimes.... you get games like this, that are so bad they turn into slapstick comedy.
Games so bad, you cry in your sleep, and wonder if there really is a god at all.

I couldn't of put it better myself at the time

It's a long read, but worth it if you have the time. Break out the popcorn and turn down the lights...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Act 1: The calm, before the storm

Here's the set-up. All the players on the field ready to pitch. Play Ball!

Image

From the looks of it, Green has the strong suit, being able to group silos and fight in both the Arctic and the Atlantic giving them the tactical advantages. But time will tell....

Image

Act 2: ...It started with a bang

Defcon 3 started like any other. So far, it seems like a pretty standard game. Baton and turgon, In a all-out naval brawl in the artic, and South Amercia and Tobias Duking it out in the north Atlantic.
....But here is where the trouble started
Image

Tobias enters full Terminator Mode™ and chew's up South America's navy like yesterday's leftovers. His bold naval gambit pays off... and SA is forced to try to retreat, but having nowhere to run hides in the corner and weeps quietly...
Image

Meanwhile... Up north it seems that Baton is about to loose quite a few ships himself...

Image

Act 3: The mystery of the vanishing navy

Here's when the real magic happens.

Defcon 1 Rolls around. Baton has now lost most of his navy, and SA is in hiding.

Tobias rolls the dice of fate, and tries something that is often unseen on the field of battle....

Image

Sometimes kids, when you wish hard enough... your wishes will come true...

Dissecting Defcon - So Bad It's Rad - Part 2
"It's like I'm really there!"

Act 4 - When the blind lead...

At exactly the same time as the story of the extremely lucky sub nuke that could is unfolding... Something else just as wacky is happening up north...
Image

Let's see if Turgon's blind firing works...

Image

Nukes fired: A lot
Silos Killed: None

Image

In the end, it worked about as well as fighters trying to shoot nukes.

FINAL SCORE

Image

A win for Green Team (Tobias + Turgon) But a loss for all of our sanities.

Good report. And maybe it's first time I see the one who put so much time and effort for community just for gratitude.

Let's dance in style
let's dance for a while

we're only watching the skies
