who taught my noob to turtle?

Postby A8U51V3 M0TH » Tue Feb 21, 2012 6:37 pm

ok I was playing my favourite space-dog in a 1v1 last night (nuki and schubi watched a while) and I witnessed some goddamn awful turtling and just wanted to have a s moan/comment

Situation - RUSSIA v EU - normally a fast and furious game taking no more than 1 hour (REAL TIME)

1. I am 51 years old and sitting in one position on speed 1 while i wait for your navy to eventually make it around to indian ocean gave me back ache - SERIOUSLY if you are going to take the longest possible route to attack your opponent while he literally bombs the fuck outta you - is that a good strategy?
2. there was NO element of suprise - i knew you were there hiding your fleet and i resented you not facing me and fighting direct.

3. the poor specs had no show - just you plodding around and for me your opponent it was relentlessly boring waiting for you to do someting

4. 1 hour ended up being about 2 hours and i had to leave before the clock even come up beacuse I simply had something more importnant to do than wait for you to eventually attack. and if you wanted to play a slow 2 hour turtle you should of asked me if it was ok - obviously you don't have to tell me your plans but a "hey moth this game might take longer because im trying something new" is just polite and gives me a indication how long i may be stuck on my sisters cold landing on my belly fiddling with a small laptop!

5. we all know that I love to rush hard and use loads of nukes quick - so its pretty obvious that if you fear my navy just hide hope i dont zero your cities and hope you have enough nukes to win by a few points - so boring - its a war game and do you honestly think the superpowers would sacrifice their populations just to get 1 more megadeath? - its unrealistic and unsportsmanlike - fight like a moth (Toe to Toe) dont play hide and seek like a snail in its shell!

6. last time i played you space dog it was glorius - nukes everywhere lots of fun - but if you want to be a Dooms Day clone and drag things out to infinity - im just gonna avoid the games and play people who like quick clean games.

all of these comments are my opinion and perhaps i will just learn to play like my favourite captain R3D who just steam rollers the turtles into submission before they can do thier rabbit punch and run away.

no disrespect to my opponent super space dog laika intended - i hope you did eventually beat my CPU and sorry for not completing the game in person - I am a old crabby moth who hates slow plodding games

(yeah my wife still complains i dont wait for her to come too - B4 u ask)
i know i should not

The onus should be on the person who needs it done faster: "hey I only have an hour, maybe a little more, still want to play?" Just my two cents.

TBH

its my current setup thats fustrating me i just played with R3D, YC and some dirty roman emporer and it was similar hell -

i am on a laptop and its buggy as hell + lying and lying on the floor on my belly is giving me back problems and eye strain (I wasnt lying about being a old man - i turned 51 on the 15th of feb!)

I just moved from gumdrop forest to by the long roman wall near scotland and my house isnt sorted yet so i am at my sisters with all her young kids. theres no space to set up a machine properly :(

SO

im gonna spec till my rig comes to my new house and i can set up nice and comfy with my big screens and executive office chair -

oh and troll of course :)

hopefully things will move fast and it will be in time for tourney

In that case, it worked. Not as good as it might be, but it kept territory under control long enough to let me launch from indian subs. Btw, I was strongly surprised not to find any guard there; so I could use that escort fleet to defeat the rest of your main fleet in arctic, I guess it would be quite enough for that.

I promise you, mister Moth, no more longish plays with you. Unless you decide to turn to turtling too.
