Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
my honor is restored and Spider-Man is chilling in the fridge, again. Jon surprised me a bit by putting his major fleet in the very south of spain. I had to rearrange my fleet, which was annoying. Well done jon! On the other hand, I guess, my sub-push was annoying, too. Soon after Def1 jon's fleet was almost destroyed (except 10 subs, 4 CVs and 2 BBs, I think). Nevertheless, jon fought like a dwarf monkey terrier and made good use of his remaining nukes. However, after finding his ninja sub near my silos my victory was for sure, though I had about 20 nukes mostly in bases left. The excess of unused nukes combined with my bad bomber discipline made this game somewhat close. GG, jon!

Nice writeup :-)

The surprise fleet thing worked really well at first but then i had the horrible feeling of being slowly pushed back as I only had 8 carriers against your whole fleet. While it worked as a surprise I was then cut off from fighter resupply and the fleet was slapped; I sent two refugee carriers round to india with two subs to pick up some easy points and stay out of trouble. The rest of the game was then me trying to attain respectability despite being outclassed and outgunned :-)

The sub-push totally surprised me as I don't usually see good players use it. The subs killed three of my carriers and I gave up trying to anti-sub them as they seemed to be bomb-proof :-( If anyone watches this, please tell me what the f**k was happening there.

I will be available for a return match which I will win by 26 points.

You should play vs Senator more often. He crushed me with at least three sub-pushes in tourney games.
As soon as my subs find CVs I retreat them at once to get out of range. If you have the right distance a sub can win the race. I have lost many CVs while chasing subs.
But I think you have killed at least 2 subs with your CVs.

STOD - Episode 4: "Lack of Fighters!"

Rematch: Schubdüse - 110 [NA] vs jon - 49 [EU]

Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
after much confusion jon and me finllay have met, again. What can I say? Well, my honor is restored and She-Hulk has to undergo a plastic surgery.
To be honest, the score doesn't really reflect the course of the game. This game was much closer than the first duel with jon. Without having seen the rec, in my point of view I have won the naval battle. I destroyed some subs, BBs and CVs. Furthermore I had triangulated the silo on Iceland. However, this silo was peppered with double AA force and poisen. I needed 3 runs to kill it. (Ok, the first 2 runs were laxly.) Somewhere down the road jon made a crazy scouting attempt with about 6 CVs located in the Labrador Sea. I killed all of them. Unfortunately, jon had scouted 3 of my bases and destroyed them via a silo launch. Now, he was lacking ships but had many fighters and I was lacking fighters but had many ships - a funny situation. Watch the rec in order to see what happened afterwards. GG jon, thanks for being part of STOD.

@Gretel, don't watch the rec! It will just spoil the enjoyment of your beer. 8)

PS.: I'm really sorry for Groeteschele and rus|Mike who were waiting with me for jon on the server on Wedensday. Next time, I will announce the duel only when I have a true confirmation.

I actually only risked 3 CVs in Hudson Bay not 6 :-) You did win the naval battle but not by a mile. I wanted to chase you all over the map with my carriers once I had killed all your airbases as you had few fighters but you launched silos you big meanie. I kind of slightly lost sight of actually killing cities as I was so engrossed with trying to match you in the naval battle.

And yes, next time I will double double confirm any match times

STOD - Episode 5: "A matter of luck."

First Duel: Schubdüse - 101 [NA] vs Baton - 52 [Africa]

Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
my honor is restored...by the skin of one's teeth. Phew! I needed a full bag of luck to defeat Baton. My attacks on the african gap weren't that successful. Luckily (first time), Baton surfaced 6 subs at the gap in order to sub-nuke my fleet. Though I killed 5 of them, Baton was quite good in nuking my bombers.
We both had Ninja-fleets with subs deployed. Baton was heading to Mexico via SA gap. I was sailing through the pac heading to east Africa. Luckily (second time), my lone BB detected his fleet, while mine remained cloaked till I used it. Because I had no other ships in pac, I had to hurry in order to launch my silos. I was able to combine sub and silo launch. While launching silos, Baton popped up 5 subs. I had still one armed bomber in the air:

"Echo Base, we have detected subs launching nukes, but we're taking heavy fire from BB!"
"Gold 1, deploy nuke!"
"Echo Base, nuke depl....static noise..."

Luckily (third time), Gold 1 was able to destroy 4 subs still containing nukes. Though Baton killed one almost empty silo, my silo launch killed one full silo and another full one was hit 2 times. Luckily (fourth time), Baton had placed 2 silos on cities. Watch the rec for the whole story. GG Baton, you made me suffer!

LSWP said that it was an interesting game...8)

STOD - Episode 6: "FUBAR!"

Rematch: Baton - 145 [NA] vs Schubdüse - -44[Africa]

Winner: Baton

Dear defcon community,
my honor is NOT restored. Baton was just better and I have f*cked it up. Don't expect a battlereport from a loser. Posting this hurts enough.
GG Baton, thx for being part of STOD.

NP.

Baton101 wrote:Also thanks for showing me how to replay recordings, some commands, and i think you showed me sync.

You are welcome.

Baton101 wrote:Got lucky this time...

Absolutely not! In our first game luck had its role. This time I just failed and you had skill enough to humiliate me.
You won this game by your own.

Baton101 wrote:...but we can continue anytime...maybe next weekend? :=)

Sure, not for STOD, but maybe I could need another person in order to train.
However, I'm not at home next weekend.

Admiral Yoshi wrote:Wow...afraid of showing your mistakes?

Lol, kid, you made me laugh! I was also afraid to post the screenshot and the rec.
Find the rec and watch, du stinkend fauler Rotzlöffel!:P
...it must be somewhere...
...could be written in black...
...maybe someone has posted it...
...SFCON could be a source...

Edit: I was also afraid to post a battlereport of EP2. Think, Yoshi, think before you post...

STOD - Episode 7: "Therapy for Schub."

First Duel: Schubdüse - 130 [Africa] vs Artificial Elegance - 21 [NA]

Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
I'm cured. Scheduling games with Dävid was funny. He gave me all his contact info - Mail, Skype, ICQ, underwear size, MSN and FB. But did he read his mails right in time? No! :P
We scheduled a duel for Friday, but time and terry-setup was rather cloudy. Hence, I couldn't proper announce the duel. However, I was able to catch him on a server, yesterday. Because I was totally humilated in the last duel versus Baton and still "traumatised", I asked him to play Africa vs NA, again. Thankfully, he accepted and my therapy could start:
I tried to execute the same plan: A combined sub-silo-launch, when ruling the Atl. Inexplicably, while I had placed all my navy in north Atl, Dävid had only placed about 1/3 fleet in Atl. I destroyed all his ships in Atl. And now I was in a hurry, because I knew Dävid was very strong at all "backdoors". Indeed, my scout at Indonesia was killed, soon. I brought my subs in position and launched my silos. When ICBMs were about to rain down on NA, I surfaced my subs. After I had launched around 2 volleys, I saw a nuke coming down on my subs.
Luckily, I was able to save my subs by aborting my launch. On the other hand, more ICBMs were shot down by AA-fire as expected. I launched my subs again. And again, Dävid was able to slip through my fighter coverage - the next nuke was incoming.  Fortunatley, he destroyed only one sub with one unlaunched nuke.
But was I able to defend east and south Africa against the major part of Dävids fleet? Well see for yourself, if you want...

GG Dävid. It was much fun.

STOD - Episode 8: "In the last seconds..."

Rematch: Schubdüse - 90 [NA] vs Artificial Elegance - 75 [Africa]

Winner: Schubdüse

Geez, I guess I shouldn't play rematches right after first duels. This game was almost a big fail.

Fail 1: Dävid launched one volley of ICBMs and closed his silos immediately right at def1. I didn't took the chance to destroy his silos with mine, though I had no fleet to defend Pac.
Fail 2: Dävid was weak at the african gap. Nevertheless I was camping in north Atl.
Fail 3: I lost my ninja fleet due to stupid nukes.
Fail 4: I fucked up my launch by forgetting to join one silo into my time coded synchro.
Fail 5: Launched silos far too late and lost some because of that.
Fail 6: Because of fail 4 and fail 5 I wasn't able to destroy 2 silos.
Fail 7: Defending Pac with bombers was pathetic.

Dävid had it almost in the bag. I won this game in the last seconds due to a desperate sub launch.

@Dävid: It was an honour to play with you. I enjoyed the games much, because you're a nice and funny guy. Improve you chaos-style a bit and you will beat almost all the time.
GG and thank you for being part of STOD.
