Schub's Tour Of Duty [Results and Battlereports]

Postby Schubdüse » Sat Mar 12, 2011 12:33 am

STOD - Pilot: "The Surrender/Hands of Gods"

First Duel: mvpe [SA] vs Schubdüse [Africa]

Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
my honor is restored (though I truly have sometimes pimples at my butt). After a sneaky sub-push, which I have painfully learned from Senator, mvpe surrendered and left the game (see chat box).

Normally, this behaviour is considered as rude. But in this case this assumption is totally wrong. In my opinion mvpe is one of the greatest players Defcon ever had. By acceptance of the defeat he showed me great respect. I fear that his revenge in the rematch will be devastating.

Anyway, after his leaving some filthy "s*ns of da b*tches" made me lose vs cpu by abusing their admin rights.

Consider me as a cocky prick, but I would recommend the rec. 8)

Whoops, I forgot an emoticon! Corrected.

Well, it was like after a boxing match. When one of the opponents gets knocked out within the first minute, the chavs within the audience get angry. :P
Nah, it was fun!

True, and as I said I will not hold it against you - quite the contrary. I was just a bit shocked.

He will. It will be Africa vs EU with me as ... EU. The announcement will follow when I find my fulgeman. I bet this moron is still sleeping somewhere in his own puke.

STOD - Episode 2: "Close, but no cigar."

First Duel: rus|Mike - 95 [Africa] vs Schubdüse - 92 [EU]

Winner: rus|Mike

Dear defcon community,
my honor is restored. Though I have lost the game, I think I have provided a good fight. (And we will simply forget, that I have played vs a player who is out of training. 8)) Mighty Mike couldn't properly use his subs to destroy Man-Lon-Paris. Therefore, I had kept my chances to win. In the end, I f*cked it up, because I missed the right time point to launch my subs, while we had a ping-pong-silo-launch. That's the difference between Pros and Noobs.

Maybe I have a big ego, but I would recommend the rec. 8)

I really have to thank rus|Mike for waiting for me. I dropped at a critical time point and he waited around 20 mins for me. I really appreciate this. GG mister.

1) Groeteschele is a noob :P

2) Well played, Schub, you made troubles for my overall plan which is exactly what you want to do. However 1M difference is pretty much, you still have enough to work on ;) keep up the good work! You need more efficiency @ naval encounters, more commitment to pushes and more imagination and surprise. Deny enemy scouting, make ninja runs, keep enemy always occupied.

3) The best advice I can give to you and some specs <cough>Groeteschele<cough> is to evaluate every in-game event against change in points and new possibilities to change the score opened by this event. Never say "Player X has more BBs! He's definately ahead!". The game is not about number of ships, it's about getting points and if you have more ships but no chance to use them in getting points then those ships are useless.

Looking forward for other ToD matches, especially one with Ace Rimmer :)

Thx, for the words. And I know, I know, but the big problem was, that after the major naval battle, I was really fighter drained. Hence, I couldn't penetrate the gap very soon after this.

I can't follow you. When have I said this?

I will challenge him later. I don't want to fight all the top players in a row. Consider STOD like a TV show.
In my opinion we already have had a nice "pilot". There will be also episodes for character "development". I'm planning to have at least one "special episode" vs Mrmot. (If he wants, of course.) Games vs top players will hopefully be the climax of the show. Of course, for some people there will be also boring episodes.

STOD - Episode 3: "Jon = Pain In The Ass."

First Duel: Schubdüse - 99 [EU] vs jon - 74 [NA]

Winner: Schubdüse

Dear defcon community,
my honor is restored and Spider-Man is chilling in the fridge, again. Jon surprised me a bit by putting his major fleet in the very south of spain. I had to rearrange my fleet, which was annoying. Well done jon! On the other hand, I guess, my sub-push was annoying, too. Soon after Def1 jon's fleet was almost destroyed (except 10 subs, 4 CVs and 2 BBs, I think). Nevertheless, jon fought like a dwarf monkey terrier and made good use of his remaining nukes. However, after finding his ninja sub near my silos my victory was for sure, though I had about 20 nukes mostly in bases left. The excess of unused nukes combined with my bad bomber discipline made this game somewhat close. GG, jon!
