Damn and Drat!

Postby Sam Kennedy » Wed Dec 01, 2010 11:40 pm

I played my first ever online match of defcon, I was Europe, 'NewPlayer' was USSR.

I sank all his subs, destroyed the majority of his silos (might have actually been all of them), destroyed his air bases and got quite a few kills with my subs and bombers. I was winning 102 to -51, then the server shut down :(

Luckily I got a screenshot before the game ended :D

Always annoying when that happens..

Anyway, gz on your win and all that. To give you some small pointers for future games you want your silos further west. They cant be placed in norway / sweden or germany in this setup as that would be within normal radar range of russias radars.

You would probably want them in spain / france with airfields just next to them so they can send fighters against incoming scouts to prevent your silos from being destroyed before they have a safe launch and the setup you used would have gotten your silos killed by subs by a more experienced player right at defcon 1.

This game is all about navy killing and safe silo launches.

If your navy dies, launch immediately before enemy navy have a chance of setting up properly.
If your navy destroys their navy use subs (in most cases) to destroy their silos and go on subhunt around your silos, launch bombers around the waters where your silos are, launch silos.

More or less.

Of course that there is tonnes of more strategies and tricks to it than that.

Oh and welcome to the game :-)

Hi and welcome to Defcon!
Try the dedicated servers. They will not shut down, if somebody quits.

/me switching to arrogant NOOBschub:" ...looking at your setup...you have much to learn." :P

I'm glad I have a lot to learn, if I didn't, I would get bored of this game VERY quickly. I'm not much of a gamer (I played call of duty black ops for literally 2 minutes before i got bored), so I'm glad I've found a game which I do like :D
