Hey guys. Mac user here... I'm trying to boot up Dedcon so I can view a replay. I don't know what to type in and I tried to follow the instructions but I'm really clueless. An "idiot's guide" walk-through would be greatly appreciated... :)

From the first post of the thread:

How to watch recordings:

1. Go to http://dedcon.net/ and download the latest version of the program.
2. Install Dedcon.
3. Download the recording(s).
4. Open(Double-Click) the recording file(*.drec), which should now have a file association with dedcon. A black text box will pop up with the names of the players, and the pre-game chat log.
5. Leave Dedcon running, and open Defcon. In the server list, you will find a green server called 'playback'. Enter it to watch the recording! Sometimes it doesn't open right away, so just hit refresh until it shows up.

The .dcrec file is not associated with the dedcon application. It is not letting me open it. How do I open it with dedcon?

If you use windows, doubleclick on the file, then select "Select a program from a list of installed programs". Then select dedcon.

I use a Mac. When I try to "open with" I cannot select Dedcon as an application, even if I select "all applications" instead of "recommended applications."

Sorry don't have a mac here, but found something on the last bit of page 1 of this thread.

It should. You just need to be a bit console-savy.

bert_the_turtle wrote:Just clicking on that 'dedon' starts a regular server with default configuration, not a playback. Just close it or enter the 'Quit' command. To start a playback, you need to
1. open a terminal
2. cd into the directory that 'dedcon' resides in
3. enter './dedcon -l <name of the recording>'
It's easiest if you place the recording file into the same directory the 'dedcon' is in.

There should be a 'README' text file in the same directory, too. It contains more information.

The dedcon readme also says that just clicking on the dcrec file only works on windows.
