Feud, shiny, torig and some unknown players in diplo mode :)

It was a very interesting match, that was packed with action.

Feud got USSR, Shinygerbil got NA, I got EU. In hindsight we should have gone for a North vs South alliance, which would have blown the others out of the water ;)
Crazyman got Africa, DORGO got SA and gilgal got Asia.

At defcon 5 I pmed feud to ask if we would allign our silo defenses and I noted this would bound our fates together. He accepted, which reassured me he wouldn't try and defect.
Crazyman had some battleships near spain, and when I moved my fleet down to hunt for shiny's, he moved in (but he stayed behind a bit).
Soon after defcon 2 hit shiny and myself made contact. I quickly sunk most of his battleships (because I was pinging with subs) and got some carriers and subs as well (with my bombers being in the air).
Meanwhile Feud was taking some heat from Asia and I launched 10 bombers over the USSR, so I could assist him as he was also preparing his bomber waves
Fast forward a bit and most of shiny's fleet was decimated, and my bombers were set to launch at his coastal cities. Not having a clue about his silo locations, I sent some fighters to scout ; I discovered two at least.

After nearly losing his entire fleet and being bombarded quite nicely, shiny launched a lot of bombers that were going after me. Unfortunately, I had battleships on his route and I had just launched some recon fighters. Most were thus taken out :D
I found subs with my carriers above the UK and noticed they just didn't want to sink. Then I noticed they were Feud's, so I asked what was up. He had forgotten about them but they weren't meant for me, so he started to move them. I moved my carrier group with him, just for protecting (and frankly, that way I also kept track of the group's motion ;) ).
However, in the Atlantic I saw some pinging. I warned feud not to descend and I sent my carrier groups down. I lost two (fully loaded) subs and a carrier and don't even know how. But I saw feud lose 3 of his subs, and I saw some missiles coming from the right.

Only Crazyman (an ally) and myself had ships there, and I sure wasn't shooting at feud (nor at myself, if you wonder ;) ). I decided not to call out his backstabbing and let him sink me a bit more. When shiny's subs were taken out, he stopped (otherwise it would have been too suspicious I think).
At that moment, I noticed a shitload of bombers being sent from Northern African airbases, to me. In a straight line. Ehhm. First of all it's a crappy tactic, and secondly, a dead give-away. At that moment, feud warned me of it, but I told him it was aight.
I sent fighters but I still didn't break the alliance off. I just targetted his bombers, took them down and that was it. I sent my own bombers to hit two of his silos, 3 radars and airbases. All of those hit before kicking Crazyman out, but at that point he had hit London (without leaving the alliance :? He took 41M collateral   ). At the same timer I launched from 2 subs off North africa's west coast, which all hit nicely too.
Feud quickly aided in the retaliation and launched silos at Africa. I joined in with 3 silos, while keeping bomber pressure on NA (shinygerbil). When the first group was nearly finished I opened up my second group of 3 silos but a surprise bomber attack from shiny hit two cities I think. I took out the remainder of his incoming bombers easily ;)

Africa ended up without any silos, NA was heavily incapacitated and DORGO kept flying in bombers to hit Africa. Cheers mate ;)
I haven't seen much of what you did during that game, but it looked good ;)

Oh and before leaving Crazyman typed nonsense in the chat channel (rhjzprzr&"à&à"'à"àài for instance) as an "unknown" spec "joined" (more likely synched up). That is or isn't directly linked to the chat being spammed like crazy for the duration of most of the game.
I toyed with the spammer a bit by saying no way that chat could make my connection lag (10Mbit - so that's true, but it will have pissed him off more ;) )

Oh near the end I discovered two subs that were still full. I had parked them at Spain, but it was the intention to move them further down. However as the victory timer was already going off, I launched at Northern Africa.
That last silo I had saved in case someone WOULD have backstabbed me, but I was unable to open it up for a while since shiny's nukes were flying over (to USSR but some to me as well, possibly).

Thanks to Feud for not backstabbing ;) Was a nice game!!! :D

I knew pretty much as soon as those silos appeared around Russia and Europe that absolutely nothing was gonna pierce that defense! Still, it was a nice game.

I placed 4 battleships and 8 carriers in the atlantic, and 8 battleships and 4 carriers in the Pacific. In hindsight, I overestimated SA, whose mixed fleets went down with very little effort. Still, all his battleships along with torig's fleet in the Atlantic helped to overwhelm me.

I just love defecting early in Diplo - it doesn't always guarantee results, but what it does guarantee is FUN! :D

Well, had you informed me and Feud, I think we would have defected together with you :)
I do agree that early defection leads to FUN :D

If you have a dedicated team of two you can break it. But you have to remove EU radar and shoot silos from Canada at Leningrad and Moscow, it actually works, especially if you some in some distractions from the Indian or Africa.

Unfortunately the "distractions" from Africa and Asia were pretty laughable.

Africa could have hurt me big time, if he hadn't given away his intentions in the atlantic.
Of course I pretended to not have seen it ;)

By that time, Asia was already dead due to Feud/myself bombing him hard.

No, there was no winning for the other team 8)
