EDIT: Here is Keger's end-game shot (see below!)

I hosted a 6p diplomacy game under the name of Banana Republican, which is the name I use when playing SA. Other names for other continents to be confirmed (Red Dwarf knows a few I think)
The other continents were:
NA: WingAttackPlanR
EU: World Death
Russia: Keger
Africa: Proto
Asia: Martians
DEFCON 5 and 4: went slowly due to people dipomacising and delying setup (*). I tried to keep the south atlantic clear by peersuading NA to head nothr and Africa to head east, and placed fleets to cut off likely bomber-sub angles. Set up silos in a screen along the atlantic coast, sacrificing Mexico (cf Cairo). In the middle of setup, NA dropped and invited me in - what choice did I have! Africa, who had already been moaning about my slow speed (see below) saw this as a backstab and left the game immediately !!
DEFCON 3 -1: With no way to invite Africa in, this left me having to cope with the CPU African fleet turning right around and heading straight for me. I only had half my carriers in the vicinity and no battleships to speak of to help out. After a lot of ocean nuking and the loss of a quite a lot of carrier and land-based bombers, the CPU fleet was destroyed, but not without inflicting about 10m kills on my east coast. Which I thought had been the safe bit. Oh dear.
In the meanitime, Russia had joined our alliance and Europe was a smouldering radioactive wreck. Don't know what Asia was doing apart from annoying east Russia. ..?
I then worked on degrading Africa's silo defenses. I was helped by Martians (still allied with Africa) in an unofficial ceasefire. He took out a few of Africa's silos which was helpful. In return I declined to interfere with the battle in the pacific between Asia and NA, and Asia only nuked Mexico once...
In retaliation, I took out the undefended Middle East and Korea/Japan (which freaked out NA as the westbound missile tracks went straight over his silos. I should have asked first ... but why would I take out my missile shield??)
This left the red alliance in 1-2-3 (with me in 3 and NA, dangerously, with 100 points). Gallantly, Asia threw everything at everyone, taking out NA west coast, presumably some bits of russia that I didnt see, and my remaining forces in Las Malvinias bravely held off yet another green navy, Asia this time, with no civilian casualties. Around then the victory timer started.
So what was Russia doing all this time? Sitting in the north atlantic with a full strength navy, and microing like crazy. NA and I weren't thinking, we should have booted him earlier before he defected and launched mass bomber and sub attacks from the atlantic! Fortunately first placed NA was the main target and as the bombs rained down I found myself in first place when the victory timer ran out.
Well thats what most of us thought. Keger, as russia, could still see 5 minutes on his victory timer (**), enough to score a few hits on Mexico and get himself into first place.
So kudos to Keger for a well done stab and "co-"win.
Hope to catch up with you all for some more diplomacy (under whatever name ...)
Cheers Tripper
(*) That's mainly me. For the record, I will play at 1x a LOT in the early game as there's nothing worse than rushed setup. Also my Bluetooth Mighty Mouse, whilst asthetically appealing, is not the most responsive of beasts and I am therefore a very slow micro-er
(**) This has also been reported on the troubleshooting forum
