6 player default. About benefits (and drawbacks) of a rep

Postby Pater » Sat Jun 16, 2007 12:08 am

Players:

Pat - Russki
Puffy - Europe
Eric de Cylon - Africa
Gomer - Asia
Stalin - NA
NewPlayer - SA (Not a demo)

A 6 player default was starting, with me as the host.

At game start, I decided to ask to ally with Europe, who agreed. NA/SA made an alliance, as did Asia and Africa.

I then reconsidered my chances (Europe places silos early), and asked to join NA/SA. They agreed; this caused Europe to get annoyed and join the others.

I was now surrounded by three sides. I knew I was going to be in a hot spot right from the start, and expressed my mild fright in the chat. This was met by a stunning riposte by Gomer: "loser". He then proceeded to proclaim he has read my posts in at the forums, and his not so flattering conclusions about my nerdiness etc (the standard internet insults).

I answered his rhetoric with my own, while placing a fleet on his coast: the verbal fencing heat up already before Defcon 4. Africa (Newplayer) joined Gomer's side to diss me, escalating the wordy warfare. Their inability to annoy or persuade me with their meager intellect got them all the more worked up.

Africa dropped to 1x speed for several minutes on purpose. This sparked comments from me, which in turn infuriated the griefer-wannabe. I was determined to finish the game though, so I soldiered on and took out Gomer's fleet near Japan at Defcon 3. This turn of events was met with more slander.

Then by a miracle or because of popular discontent, the pain-in-the-ass decided to play the game anyway.

By Defcon 1 this NewPlayer was loudly calling for a collective strike on Russia, my motherland. "To teach a lesson". Asia and Africa were totally infuriated by my defiance, and Europe was just mad at me for joining American alliance. I knew what was coming, and started preparing.

Defcon 1 slammed to the screen. I was simultaneously attacked from all sides, since I had placed my whole navy near Japan. Subs from above Norway, ICBM's opened fire from Asia, also bombers from Europe and Asia closed in (although VERY poorly planned!)

I immediately opened fire with all my 6 silos on Cairo, with bomber assistance. I scrambled my bombers and sent them northeast. I then turned some towards Cairo, and some towards Eastern Europe and Western Asian cities.

My land was wiped out. Cairo lighted up in retaliation, as did many of the major West Asian and East European cities. I was in East Asia before my American counterparts, and turned the area to dust with little effort.

The slander had died, for the moment. I was positive.

I will post part 2 if anyone is interested what happened the rest of the game. Mostly I posted this because they were cracking jokes about me hurrying to post the result. Always pleasure to be of service. Spoiler: I won the game.

---------------------- PART 2

I managed to save a lone bomber from the Carnage, and sent it to the Arctic to wait for Europe's launch. Sadly it was taken out some time later when I was busy elsewhere.

The insults started again, taunting me about my country's sad fate. I replied by sending fireworks to Asian coastal cities in Southeast, while moving my fleet towards Indonesia.

My subs were in place for an offensive. Yes: offensive, not counter-offensive. My subs surfaced near Mexico and North America, and sent their deadly cargo on a direct flight path to the coastal major cities. I didnt feel bad at all when nukes hit Mexico, after all it was NewPlayer (my former ally) who had cried for the collective strike on my motherland.

I did feel bad about backstabbing Stalin's North America, but I knew I was going to be even more hated anyway. I was actually a little unlucky: another player dragged on realtime while I was readying and launching from subs, causing the enemy to notice my betrayal early and kick me out. I still got the major cities, switched to passive sonar and went south.

This move enraged everyone even further. NA and SA both joined the alliance, now leaving me totally alone against 5 others. NA promptly launched on my already depleted land.

I knew they couldnt hurt me further though, my cities were little more than dust.

So I knowingly asked for mercy. My plan worked, this apparent show of weakness and remorse caused them to hammer my lands even harder, wasting their nukes.

Meanwhile my 12 carrier fleet was proceeding towards Africa, but met heavy resistance first in Indonesia. This enemy fleet was taken out. While moving further to the west, I was taken on by the African fleet, reducing my surviving bombers to 3. Sacrificing my carriers in a decoy move, the surviving bombers later made it to their targets, hitting medium sized Eastern African cities.

Soon after this the great Alliance broke apart. The smart Europe was first to defect, hitting SA hard with a sub strike. The rest of the Alliance's treacheries and fights are a mystery to me, since I was now almost without options, radar cover, or units.

My subs went further south along SA's coast, surfaced at a suitable time and hit the coastal cities. I had to share them with another sub launcher, the identity unknown.

As Europe's launches waned and he was left 50 points below me, I knew I had won: he was the only player with the firepower left to gather around 150 points, which was my final score.

As the victory timer neared its end, the whining and insults by NewPlayer and Gomer reached a crescendo: I estimate 5 insults hurled in a second. It was like music to my ears, since I knew my victory was absolute.

Hey, don't post half the story and then cut us off :). That's my way of saying i'm interested in hearing the rest. It's one of my favorite things to get verbally trashed in again and focus my efforts on whomping the opponent instead of petty bickering.

Well, I had the chance of playing with Pater today.

I must admit, that after his discussion of how insulting the community can be, I came in withthe intention of going out of my way to be nice to him. Instead, he decided to slow the game to 1x for 40 minutes while typing explitives and making unsightly comments about other people's family members.

Now, this may infact just be someone posing as Pater, if so then I apologize, and you should know that people are acting this way in your name.

We are actually still in the game, he has been 1x for about an hour now, and I"m nuking my own cities to pass the time (over 117 million in collateral so far!).

I stumbled upon Pater Punishment tonight as well. For a guy who is complaining about trolls he is sure playing on their home turf. I entered the room and he went ballistic over my name being "childish" and whatnot. If it is someone posing as him, disregard this post, but if is you, you need to learn how to behave. Acting like a complete tool all the time will only get you banned from the quality servers faster than you can say "ass".

It is someone posing as me. Thank you for letting me know.

You can know if it is me from two things:

1) If they lose the game, it's not me. You can find out from the skill level, these guys suck.

2) My IP starts by 195.148

You should know from my posts I am really against that sort of behavior. I would never do it myself.

By the way, notice Gomer as a speccer. I believe the one acting as me is the frustrated NewPlayer. My victory against them probably drove them to temporary insanity and to this kind of desperate retaliation. I speculate they felt it is the only way then can get back at me after their embarrassing loss.

I apologize for the collateral damage.

P.S. I will post the rest of the story later.
