Edit 2: Just specifically tested for friendly fire and couldn't get it to happen. I think it just boils down to proximity sinking, not friendly fire.

That's what my test came up with too. And I also used Team Switching for good instead of evil

How useful is the effect? Not sure. It could stop enemy subs sneaking through your bomber line in 1v1. It might work well if you like leaving one sub or one carrier at a choke point.

Does the fact that nobody uses it mean they've tried it and it's rubbish, or that it never occurred to them?

Disclaimer: obviously large mixed fleets are rubbish. I'm talking about 2 or 3 ship fleets which appear as 1 or 2 carriers.

Well I don't think friendly fire exists for depth charges and subs...

Due to my naval formation subs are often very close to my other ships and I've never noticed that my depth charges kill my own.

But still, I advise heavily against mixing subs into fleets >__<

 Excellent, no friendly fire then :D although a new tactic for kamakaze naval battles (placing your ships ontop of the enemy) still...(again i'm not certain because i generally have never tested these things, only taken from observations) that if you mixed units in a fleet, that fleet travels at the slowest units speed, lol, i'm bound to get one right sometime, oh well :) (it really is amazing that i win any games at all :D ) i wouldn't see the point of using subs to ping for enemy subs anyway...i always micro the mode of my carriers for specific purposes and i will NEVER EVER ping my subs unless they are empty of nukes.
