Peace & Love: Africa
JESUS: NA
Defcons 5-4
NA has silos set up in a tight pyramid from around Michigan/Wisconsin up to Hudson Bay. Three airbases were placed in a diagonal row just east of the silo pyramid, with the fourth in the desert near Phoenix. Most of NA's navy was in the Atlantic (8 carriers, 11 battleships and three subs), arranged in groups of 3-4. NA did put four carriers and nine subs in the Pacific, bound for the Indian, and parked one battleship in the Pacific near South America.
Africa sets up silos in the north-central part of the continent, with airbases just north and west of the silos pretty much north of a Kinshasha-to-Addis-Abbah line. Africa placed all 12 battleships in a concave gunline in the Atlantic, with carriers near the northwestern coast in support, and 8 subs placed near the battleships. Africa also placed single carriers in the southern Atlantic, and in the Indian, along with four subs heading for the Pacific.
Upon seeing the gunline at Defcon 4, JESUS' reaction was "uh oh"
Defcon 3
Naval battle in the Atlantic commenced. Africa moves up the carriers to support the gunline launching bombers. The gunline proves resilient at this point in the game as NA's Atlantic forces are forced to pull back to the east coast (9 out of Africa's 12 battleships in the gunline survive to Defcon 1), while the Pacific fleet steams on towards Australia.
Defcon 2
NA starts launching land-based bombers and sends fighters at the gunline. Africa responds by sending fighters of its own and the air battle in the Atlantic intensifies while the naval battle between ships subsides as the navies seperate.
Defcon 1 (All times are approximate)
Africa starts launching carrier-based bombers while NA breaks up the gunline with nukes from bombers (nukes obliterate all but two battleships in the gunline. five subs in the Atlantic also survive). Africa retaliates by using bomber nukes on NA's navy with limited success. This initial exchange subsides at around 0:58:30. Africa's five surviving subs in the Atlantic ends up just south of Cuba.
Meanwhile, NA's Pacific fleet is north of Australia at 1:06:27, Africa's 4 subs pass right underneath them, heading for the Pacific. NA's first bomber wave heads towards Africa, but are stopped by fighters from two carriers upon reaching the Atlantic.
1:17:00 : NA's four carriers are firmly in the Indian and launch bombers at Africa with fighter escort, with its subs entering the Indian not far behind. NA scores the first points at about 1:29:00 with hits on Addis Abbah. NA launches scouting fighters as the bombers return to the carriers. Africa scrambled bombers to the Indian to counter with nukes, but the carriers had moved off before the nukes arrived.
1:50:00-2:27:30 : NA launches another bombrun from the Indian targeting silos (I think JESUS had found two by this point). All nine NA subs are nearly in position. one set of three near Madagascar, with another set to the south and the north. The launches from the northern and central groups around 2:27:30 are accompanied by the second bombing run. The attack takes out two of Africa's silos and scores one hit on a third. Two bombers survive to return to the carriers, and the exchange temporarily subsides, and all six subs that launched are sunk. Once the bombers return, they are reloaded and sent north, intending to go for Cairo.
3:10:50 : Cairo hit. Launches from NA's three remaining subs in the Indian target more silos, resulting on one hit on a previously undamaged silo. The two African carriers in the Atlantic near Brazil are dispatched by one bomber nuke and the one battleship that was parked in the PAcific but came around the tip of SA. The exchange stops entirely for a while at this point becoming the aforementioned cat-and-mouse game. Both sides adjusted the position of their remaining naval forces.
4:40:00 : Africa launches a massed bomber run from its airbases intending to hit targets in NA, but the east coast was well defended and the attack was largely ineffective. Two surviving bombers continued as suicidal scouts.
5:10:00 : Africa decides to launch the subs from south of Cuba, but these are dealt with quickly by four carriers, and the AA-mode silos took care of mose of the incoming nukes the subs did manage to fire. Africa still has four subs just off Mexico still unfired.
7:15:00 : NA opens up silos, and Africa launches subs (these are dealt with in very short order from NA silo nukes. I think only one nuke from each sub was launched. The vic timer starts at this point. NA and Africa launch remaining silos at cities and that was pretty much how it ended.
Game Time: 8:20:34
I hope I got this right
