Hyperion vs Erasmus J Homeowner (Round 1)

Postby Hyperion » Tue May 29, 2007 2:31 pm

Getting started:

Excellent...both of us online...im well rested from my 6hrs sleep since playing defcon all last night...so lets get down to it 8) server near perfect, password worked (remember case sensitive), spectators - Xocrates, Bert the turtle, Schduse (again sorry, don't know how to spell your name  ). Little to no lag the entire game, bit of high latency.

Hyperion: EU
Homeowner: Asia

Defcon 5/4:

Since i won a 1v1 with this set up the previous night 8) i decided to go with the same tactics...set up a navy blockade between the bottleneck points of Africa and South America comprising of roughly 80% of my fleet...decided unless Homeowner decided to launch bombers from over landmasses (from other oceans, e.g. the pacific) the only other option he would have would be to manage most of his fleet through the Bering Strait. (Sent a small incursion force over USSR to counter this threat and launch hell from above when the time was right (2 battleships, 3 carriers, 9 subs) Placed Silos, Radar etc etc accordingly and waited.

Defcon 3:

Yippee...i can scout and move around :D ...immediately there are 3 radar stations in range of my EU radar  ...ha!...a mistake i thought  , as this would leave only 3 radar dishes to guard the entire continent of Asia... he scouted with fighters from an airbase west of India...i shot down...and scouted myself...to no avail :( .

Defcon 2:

My northern USSR incursion fleet is moving at a steady pace...battleships leading, subs predictably behind  in groups of three. My African/South American Blockade holding...nothing coming O_o was starting to worry...seeing as how i'd committed nearly my entire fleet to this blockade.

Defcon 1:

We can nuke :!: :D predictably my most eastern EU radar dishes are destroyed...as are his 3 radar dishes. I start to blind nuke west of India in the hopes of hitting that damned airbase (did i ever get it?) hmm...just consulted my screenshot...turns out it was never there  was carrier fleets in the Indian ocean , lol...tricky. Anyhow...

...uh oh... collision warnings are sounding and im tailing my USSR fleet the hell out of there...my lead pair of battleships have encountered resistance...ALOT of resistance...3 groups of 3 battleships and carriers and generally the bulk of Homeowners fleet...CRAP :!: first things first...i stop 3 subs and hold them back in a nook of USSR coastline should i lose this naval skirmish...send the other 2 groups of 3 subs high north and continue forwards hoping ill distract his carriers long enough not to go back into anti sub mode and get them past his fleet...launch all bombers and fighters and try to nuke his fleet or give him second thoughts about advancing...its no good...my battleships and carriers submit and my 6 lead subs start to sink...my 3 hidden subs survive...damn him :!:

Now knowing where his main fleet is i push my blockade down and around Africa, taking out maybe 6-9 subs of his in the process...but not before some canny surfacing and point blank nuking of my carrier fleets... shouldn’t have rushed those battleships ahead...anyways...i get all my fleet around Africa with 3 subs in lead that i'd sent there from Defcon 5. Both our fleets circling the globe.

I had previously tried to launch 3 bases of bombers through USSR to hit down in waves on his eastern cities...but his fleet north of USSR and airbases launched fighters and minced my bomber waves so i was launching nukes here and there. I emptied my southern 3 most silos...knowing his fleet was somewhere north of me (my 3 subs still hidden above USSR...over passed by his fleet...excellent i thought  ). My 3 silos aim for his furthest most cities...Tokyo etc...they all hit...big points to me...i realise his eastern coastline is undefended, my nuke arcs safe from his southern AA fire...as 3 silos launch from India and mostly fail to make impact but get him some points (he didn't empty them, which i always consider a mistake unless used as a decoy into getting me to launch all my silos because now i know where they are  )...i assumed his other 3 silos were just above...in reach of my hidden 3 subs...i was wrong  my subs in the range of NOTHING but 2 dead cities i'd bomber nuked earlier  and slowly starting to die so i launch them fast...1 or 2 nukes make their targets...his last 3 silos launch (also in India)...i launch my 3 Indian ocean subs to hit his silos...little or no effect...i manoeuvre my fleet into the Indian and above Australia...i have maybe 10 battleships there so all resistance he has there is destroyed...air and navy :D ...he starts to unload his silos on the ocean nearby OH NO YOU DON'T!!! i think to myself and move everything out of range of my battleships who are a necessary sacrifice. I start systematically bombing his eastern coastline...Hong Kong...Shanghai...knowing he has no radar or AA defence there  the points mount up.

In this time his silo nukes and northern fleet have hit me hard...taking out 3 of my 4 airbases...most of my northern radar and 2 fully loaded silos :? (i have 1 loaded silo left which i launch at the end of the game over his silos for points).

I take the points from an undefended population...all in all a good game...but Homeowner SHOULD have won the game given his naval superiority...but he didn't know it :D and didn't make the most of his numerous advantages where as i knew where most of his units were in the game by now so considered it safe sailing from then on so long as he didn't rush me 8)

Good game sir. I look forward to round 2.

Victories:

Hyperion 1

Erasmus J Homeowner 0
