Domino v Skynet

Postby ynbniar » Fri May 18, 2007 6:57 pm

I'm not an experienced 1v1 player and have played just a couple but I spotted skynet77812 server so joined for a go.

Things were going ok:

I was surprised skynet advanced so quickly - I'd read a few games had gone on for ages but a whole load of battleships appeared and I managed to inflict quite a bit of damage I think with perpendicular bombers - did I skynet?

I popped a trio of carriers up at the beiring straight to stop any flanking but skynet didn't bother with this avenue and sent everything into the atlantic.

I made a right pigs ear of my bomber runs - a better player than me would have got a lot of joy attacking via africa I think.

His subs launched off my northern coast but didn't do too much damage - I had a lot of bombers in the air and took them out quickly I think (correct me if I'm wrong skynet, the game was fast so I might be telling it with Domino tinted specs)

After his sub launch I launched my silos blind but didn't pick up enough points.

I sent 3 subs and my 3 carriers through the beiring straight and they made it all the way over without encountering anything.

Skynet got me with his carrier bombers, hitting mexico and other northern areas.

I was hoping to time a bomber run with his silo launch but I didn't manage it.

In the end I managed a few late hits as he launched his silos with subs north of Scandinavia but he grouped his nukes well and they got through to my major cities.

Well played skynet...I'd say you were better than average but not as good as some I've played like Bonsai or Radiant Caligula. And, while I've never played kudrigy, from what I've seen you'd loose by a lot.

I love how when people get beat by me there like "your a good player but not that good" Im damned if i win and damned if i lose LOL. Anyway i wasnt giving you my "A game" you said you were just OK so i took it easy on you and played it fast and carless. It was well played if you ever want a rematch let me know. Ill be sure to try harder and put you in the negative!

I say good, just not the greatest.

If there's a 1v1 tourney after the current regular tourney, are you gonna prove your skills?

I love it how when you don't annihilate your opponent you say you weren't really trying and you took it easy.

Countersmurf noted that you are a bit unimaginative and in our game you came at me head on. No attempt to attack via Africa, USA or Beiring.

Anyhow well played, and yes if I see your server I'll pop in for a rematch.

But you should try 6 player or orgazmo too.

i really was taking it easy on you. you said you were new so i didnt want to totaly smash you. If my tactics are so unimaginative you should have been able to beat them. Im not the type of person who down plays when i lose or just win by a little. For example countersmurf is a better player than me at the moment. no excuses hands down the guy is good im not making excuses for that. In your case i really didnt try that hard to beat you. Thats why my tactics were so "unimaginative "

No, I said I was an average player which is true. I did not say I was new and during the game I chatted with Razorjack and confirmed I was experienced by talking about the tournament.

Please...try not to misrepresent things.

And me being new, or average or very good has nothing to do with the fact that your tactics, at the moment, are 1 dimensional in my opinion. Countersmurf thought the same and I agree.

With hindsight, if I'd arranged a sizeable bomber swarm in Africa, something players like Radiant or Weps are very good at, the result might have been different.

You are a good 1v1 player though, better than me (though this was my third 1v1...I've played hundreds of 6 player) and I enjoyed the game.

I hope we can play again.

Cheers

I agree also. When I first met Skynet I quickly labelled him a one trick poney, since his tactic, while efficient, was always very much the same.

In fact, what gave me more pleasure in this little stunt of his, was not seeing him beaten, but noticing that towards the end he was starting to use tactics that I was teaching in a School game when we first met and which he dismissed since he was so good. (a game, by the way, which was clearly labeled as being for new players and in which he joined to play  )

First sorry for the misquote ynbniar i do remember you saying you were average now. Second my tactics are organic they change up from time to time. Ive been sneaky and positioned little sub units around countries, massed huge wave bomber attacks, or have gone the straight forward method which i used to play you. You guys are making observations on just a few games. I do change things up. Usually when i play someone for the first time i am direct. Its a way of fleshing them out and seeing how they play and adapt. Your entitled to your opinion and well just agree to diagree for now. Im looking forward to our next game. :D

Second Xocrates I have borrowed some new tactics from playing the higher calibure players. Those tactics may be what you "teach", but i really dont remember. What i do remember is that your "tactics" Got bitch slaped twice when we played  The only reason i joined the new player game was because i was bored and looking for to play the person who was teaching since the server said Defcon School. What "gave me pleasure" was when i beat the teacher in his own house in front of his students LOL. I get nasty messages when i kick people from my server for not being experianced now im geting nailed for joining a newbie server. Damned if i do damned if a dont ehhh.

You're right...I've seen one of your games, played you in one, and read about your encounter with Countersmurf.

That's just 3 games you played similar tactics - fleets in groups of 6, mass subs off coast, attack head on.

Not representative I agree but 100% consistent so far.

By the way don't you play 6 player? Or do you use an alias?

Sometimes i do play 6 player games and i dont use an alias. I look at multi player games as a mix of skill and luck. one on one is just pure skill i think
