I was SA and Apollyon (USA) dropped more or less as soon as the game started. My "allies" grouped together to kick him just after DefCon1 and so I was left with a pissed off CPU to deal with.
I managed to fend off his bombers and I think someone else killed most of the CPU fleet but I did loose 35pts while the rest of the green alliance sat back, watched, and occasionally told me to speed up!!! "It's survivor" they said, "not Help People mode!".
I did laugh when the CPU sub attacked Tokyo (Boris).
I decided to pretend to be offfended by my allies sitting on the sidelines - either I'd get kicked and the game could begin or they might leave me alone. Turns out it was the latter.
Africa (pwnd4) and koba (USSR) left and joined up, with koba launching a bomber strike on truefire (EU) just after defecting.
I knew that Africa's fleet was in the north Atlantic so moved a couple of carriers and subs off the south east coast of Africa and spent the rest of the game slapping Africa about a bit. I kept a load of patrol bombers in the air and had to deal with a few half hearted sub attacks, but slowly I started to climb up the leaderboard until myself and Boris were about neck and neck.
Now I'm terrible at timing my silo attacks - I always seem to open them up only to find a gazilllion subs and bombers appear seconds later. So this time I decided to wait it out - no point launching really as I was top of the leaderboard and hitting blue wasn't worth it.
The victory timer counted down and just seconds before the end Boris defected and up popped a couple of subs off Mexico. I had some bombers in the air but I think he hit one wee city bringing the scores level.
In fact, if you look at the scores he had more survivors but, DefCon being DefCon, I was top of the pile.
The most pleasing thing was I didn't fire a single silo nuke, but then you don't have to in diplo I suppose.
Good game folks.
