The first of which (6 players, default settings), I was dealt Asia. I immediately allied with Africa, and then accepted Russia. T'other three powers formed an opposing alliance. I set up my fleet in the pacific, supported by 4 subs. Another set of subs headed towards Seth Efrica, whilst the final 4 were pointed in South America's direction.
The game was pretty uneventful up until Defcon 1. Europe began to launch, so I all my airbase bombers to destroy its silos. However, en route I have a change of heart. 4 bombers target Moscow, 4 target Cairo, and the other four target radars and airbases in Russia. I leave the alliance just before touchdown - most of the nukes touchdown, and I have 100+ points.
Both Africa and Russia begin a staggered silo launch in my direction - I send bombers to quell Russia and my African subs unleash their load upon a few silos, Kinshasha and other cities. Africa and Russia inflict only minor damage before they are rendered impotent.
My South American subs fire at a continent bereft of much life, so pick up only a few points.
I team up with Mad Max of North America, and immediately send my last 2 subs to his West coast, where they launch at Chicago as he flips his silos (San Fran and LA had already been reduced to rubble).
From there on in it was pretty much plain sailing, with the only hindrance being a late (too late, infact) African sub launch from the Indian.
The second game (4 players, default settings) was against players I had seen before, I expected this to be a much tougher match.
I was handed Russia, and allied with Europe (snoopy), whilst North America (iRadiate) and Asia (Starclimber[ger]) allied. I positioned 4 subs near Asia, and moved them into the Sea of Okhostk (above Japan); my other 8 subs lay above Russia. I moved my fleet down to block the Icelandic pass.
At Defcon 3, sub pings began to move towards my Japanese subs. I was praying that they wouldn't discover them, but alas, they did. By Defcon 1, 3 remained, and I thought it best to launch now rather than lose them all. I only managed to destroy the Radar on Japan before they were wiped out, put this would prove useful later on.
A few minutes into Defcon 1, and Asia magnum launches subs from the Indian, whilst simultaneously launching bombers. They managed to land a few silo hits, remove most of my radar, and hit a few cities - I was left on about -37 points.
A 20 bomber strike on Asia's nothern silos and cities proved hightly ineffective - one silo destroyed, a single hit on another, a few hits on minor cities; was all I gained from that escapade.
Snoopy's fleet was severely weakened by the USA's in the Atlantic, and as he began to launch polar bombers at the US, I decided it was time to wipe Europe from the map. A simultaneous bomber launch from all 12 carriers and 4 airbases removed most radar, all airbases, and most silos, before a second wave mopped up. Snoopy was surprisingly slow to react - he even acknowledge the attack's existence in the chat box before a single nuke landed, yet by the time he left the alliance there was no hope in hell for him. I then proceeded to milk the EU's population for all it was worth.
This put me in the lead by a fair bit, prompting the orange alliance to begin an all out assault on my cities and silos. Both flipped their silos and emptied them on mine, whilst bombers appeared from every angle, and subs surfaced left right and center. Starclimber edged ahead whist all my remaining bombers were en route to his cities - I capitalized on his lack of cover of his Indian cities, whist one plucky bomber managed to land a nuke on heavily fortified Tokyo, widening the gap by 30 points.
This was one of the most enjoyable games I have ever played - thanks guys!
