It's been a long time since I played diplo...

And it shows!

I went into the game lobby to see what games were going on and found a game of diplo. Since I hadn't played one of those in a long time, I decided to give it a try.

End result:

The map was reduced to 75%.

The good thing is that if had this been a default game, it would be a easy one for me, unfortunately it wasn't :(

Though, I did wonder how far I was from 3rd place

How does the game decide who places higher in event of a draw, or does it just do it alphabetically?

Not that it really matters as a draw is a draw, but still interesting. Also interesting how close the top 5 were in that game- most Diplos I've played (my favourite mode, I think) end with two or three players getting whaled on, two or three teams kinda equal with a reasonable score, and some backstabbing monkey usually between 20-50 points ahead, if not more.

Defcon does a lot of rounding of numbers behind the scenes. In the event of what looks like a "draw", one player is usually slightly higher, but their scores have been rounded to the same number for display purposes. In the event of an *actual* draw... I've no idea of the probabilities, but I'm guessing it pretty unlikely. Perhaps it goes to "number of kills", and if it's still a draw, the next statistic down...

EDIT: Hah, I win! But you reminded me of the "No Clear Victor" message.

In an actual draw, the computer will declare "No Clear Victor." It will also declare "No Clear Victor" in a situation where everyone is very negative, or some such. An actual draw, however, is very, very unlikely. Even if your displayed points are the same, Defcon tracks your score as a 32-bit int internally. That is a lot of precision with which to determine the victor.
