A perfect game of diplo - cut short :-=

Postby Radiant Caligula » Sun May 06, 2007 11:52 pm

I played this game earlier this evening. What is better than a slender game of sunday diplo, eh.

It was one of the best diplo games I have ever been in.

Contestants:

Frittenfritz - AFRICA
Psychickid - RUSSIA
Peacelover - SA
Peter - NA
Exudus - EU
Me - ASIA
----------------------------------------

The Game:

I set out to take a defensive stance and things progressed pretty easy for me as NA broke loose early on and EU joined.
I made sonic barriers to stop any lurking guests from entering both the Indian and my front door. This worked perfectly and I was sub proof. 100%. 1 sub pinging in the beloved strike point in the North Pole secured me all game.

EU was wiped clean pretty fast. I think Exudus is new to the game. Since Psychickid is a "veteran" he was minced relatively fast. Exudus was the server, but I will come back to that.

Only minutes after EU first joined red he asked to join us again. All us 3 dumbasses say yes and he dumps us. lol Can't believe we went for that old trick!
But he should have waited longer. He didnt get any new or combat relevant intel, and now he spoiled the trick.

I made an agreement with NA to stay clear of each other, which he honoured. The battle raged on and I softened Africa that I'd watch his back (barrier and all). He asked if he could "trust me" and I nodded, of course.

I sat in my spoiled corner and witnessed everyone on the green team drain their resources. I had used only 5-6 nukes to kill a base in EU. SA tries to return the spying trick and they went for it (!). He returned to green and drew intel on the board. Soon NA was as dead as EU and Peter left (I'm sure for valid reasons (?)).

SECRET: I'll hate myself for revealing this trick (again), but heck. See my score of 87? That's a perfect score. During the most intense battle I dropped 2 nukes on Teheran to lower my score and keep the psychological pressure off me. At one point I was on top again with 95 points and decided to have a rather hefty barbeque in Bombay. Perfect! Dropped to a comfy 87 and 3rd (for the moment).

..............................................
Game breaker:

I was pretty confident Psychickid wouldn't stab me. He didn't have the resources and he would be way deader than me, counting our nukes. Same with SA.
Africa had it's entire fleet coasting NYC and Frittenfritz announces "he wanted to have some fun with his silos". To our joy he fires them at cities in EU/NA. Psych and me had been messaging back and forth and had Operation Stab all in place when Fritzy decided to waste his deterrent on dead flesh. Psych had lots of subs hovering just outside Kinshasa.

I had doubled some pinging barrier subs to stealthy sneak up some subs to strike at Africa when due time. He launching at red was too good to be true and we flashed an awesome strike at all African installations. The only retaliation he managed was a lone fighter at my already empty sub.

I mean, Africa was dead in 5 secs.

What happens next (about 1 min after this screenie) blew my mind: "The server has shut down" (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Mid game.       Server was EU. Had it been Africa's it would have been understandable, BUT CMON!!! Shutting a server like that is even more unforgivable than being a sore loser.

MORAL OF THE STORY? -

Respect the game.

Yeah, such a disappointment that the server shut. Also, my resources were not as low as you thought. I still had 6 subs fully loaded, and 4 full silos, and 2 with 5 ICBMs, along with a decent amount of bombers. I probably would have been hit harder, but I could have knocked you down a peg or two if I decided to backstab. Guess I was smart that time when I decided against it.

Also, I'm a vet? How nice. :)

[Edit]: Other than the shutdown, it was a fantastic game. I certainly enjoyed wiping Europe clean. I was lucky that he launched, made things easier on me. I believe I only lost Leningrad and two of my silos each got hit once. Lucky so-and-so.

I didnt think you were short stocked, but I almost had more nukes than you and SA combined. And completely intact fleet + all installations. I was trodding my way to the nuclear rainbow, dammit. SA had only 3-4 ships left and I'm pretty sure he spent most/all his subs on NA. THIS WAS TO BE MY MOST AMAZING BACON SURVIVOR GAME OF ALL TIME, GRRRRR.

jk. (not) lol (unlol)

Yeah, you more than likely would have won if both of us went at it. Europe still hurt a lot of my navy, and I know I lost some bombers that were on my carriers, along with the subs I had launched. Would have been interesting though.

cool. Our screenies are only 20 seconds apart. Poor fritz, he never knew what hit him.

I took the liberty to smack it up as an image instead of an url.
