Apologies to Bonsai

Postby MikeTheWookiee » Sat May 05, 2007 6:27 pm

We were all set for a mammoth 1v1 encounter as Europe on Russia, when my wireless decided to spaz out and 'not see the internet' or some such thing. After kicking it into gear, I then couldn't find the his server. Sorry mate!

I'll stick up a screen of how it looked when I was disconnected. (or rather around 238 seconds after the event)
Any comments on how you think it may have gone or my lack of strategy are welcome.

Edit: including the screenshot

i thought you couldnt see my 3 radars... will change that in the future :)

u could have placed your stuff a tiny bit more east, the game wasnt decided at all at that stage, i think u had a pretty big advantage seeing my 2 silos

isnt the trick to place only radar in defcon 4 (and only advanced radar anyway) then just measure the distances on screen, then place accordingly...

oh the cats out (if it wasnt already!)

Yes but we both knew what we were doing and he wasn't about to put all his stuff right next to Moscow for me. I could actually see all the radar stations (the other 3 had been nuked already) and the two silos (thanks to a little luck).

On closer inspection, what the picture doesn't show is my stealth-squad of three subs and three carriers heading off around Africa to turn up late-game around India. Of course, neither does it show Bonsai's (zkl's) massive red navy sitting just out of range, all geared up to nuke mine to kingdon come.
As the connection died, I was queing up the commands for those subs underneath the R of PROBLEM to take out the radars in sequence and then the silos. (or at least 3 on each silo, counting the hits closely so bombers could finish the job later - I don't like wasting nukes on ground where things once stood).

Oh and finally - that, kids, is an example of how to set up as Europe aginst Russia so that he can't see anything (only your scouting radars). It could be optimised with silo positioning, but it does show that it IS possible if you use your own radar range to see how far he'll be able to see. Little tip - use the radar overlay and draw the distnces on with the whiteboard.

In order to see an installation, does your radar need to cover the central point of the installation, or just the very edge?
