Best Diplomacy I've played in a long time...

Postby Ace Rimmer » Fri Mar 30, 2007 6:57 pm

Here's one of a game I played either before of after that six game orgazmo run. Can't remember now. I just recall that it was diplomacy (which I tend to place 4th/5th/6th in most of the time) and I had the most kills (not that unusual for me) and I placed second. With Zenons help of course.

I told Russia (I was Asia) that I was going to launch at the USA and take out his silo shield. This would enable other players to then have better access to S. America, help keep Europe's silo placement intact (to help eat nukes from the Americas and Africa) and keep the focus off of me a while. Had I thought about it more, I would have put my silos closer to my east coast. I forgot to take into account the trajectories and realized I could only sync my silos at the west coast USA. Oh well. Defcon 1 and I launched all six.

They were about midway over the pacific when USA finally defected. Heh. I sent my pacific fleet southeast and Russia sent his pacific fleet (large) due east. Once that was over, the USA took a pretty hard beating. Africa dropped during this so I took the opportunity to take out it's navy in the Indian and silos/bases/radar. When Russia committed it's silos, I opened up 12 subs (6 groups of 2) and directed 60 nukes at him.

By this time my carriers were off of S. Americas coast and trying to (finally did) hit Sao Paulo. The last real threat (to my surprise) of keeping me out of the top of the list was Europe. Thankfully he struck S. America (I think).

Gotta love diplo. The most complex mode, of course.

I have grown to love nuking myself in diplo. Not massively, but to bump myself from being at the top. I'm amazed by how well this reverse psychology works, as Im automatically "off the list" and ppl dont see me as a direct threat anymore. I've done it a couple of times and managed to bomb LA or Barcelona without anyone noticing. The key for this move is of course stealth. Not worth much if everyone see it happen...

A whole ton of failed requests to kick others out in that game too...

I think you were asked to be kicked twice during your massed silo launch... all of them failed due to insufficient votes.

The funny thing is, that launch came right after I suggested that someone launch a nuke at a random location to see everyone else's reactions.

I tried to have skBrX kicked twice and failed (before the launch). I was planning it as your made that comment.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast...
