I had to decide what to do, I figured since everyone but me, SA and Europe had been wasted, the only threat was from my "allies". Faithfully, SA stayed with me.
I saw a few EU nukes going Southward, but I said nothing, as SA was second in score, and it might help me out.
I had to decide what to do, and at 65 mins, I decided to sit it out and hopefully just not draw attention, as SA seemed content to pummell Russia.
I got a few stray nukes from Asia, but none connected.
I kept constant watch for subs and ships on my coast for a very long time. Eventually I saw Europe sending bombers in my rough direction, I asked what they were doing, but I had already aired my airforce and switched to an offensive defense incase. It went as I expected and EU left the alliance.
Then, as time was running down, I decided to launch...but couldn't, as I saw just out of the corner of my eye, a few nukes coming into range from EU. I had to wait till they were taken care of. But unknown to me, he had launched everything, my defences held, except 2 nukes got through to NY, which were obviously enough to knock me off top position, and I couldn't even respond as if I did, I'd get even more shattered, so I had to hope it'd end soon.
I sent bombers to attack, and unleashed subs, and a couple of out of the way silo's, but the sub nukes never made it, and the subs died. My bombers and silo nukes didn't make it either.
I knew it had gone downhill badly, all from one bad decision to not attack and hope for the best. I decided to go for second place and betray SA with 4 subs...but time ran out before anything actually hit, so 3rd place for me.
I went for a persuasive game rather than destructive, and for the most part it worked, but it fell apart at the end.
It was a good game, and EU played very well at the end, and made me regret not taking my chance to destroy him.
