sorry, I nuked the scottish store too.

Though I am curious as to whether the gibbering you're referring to is the horrifying Scots dialect or Scots Gaelic, as I can speak the latter but thankfully the former has eluded me in favour of a hybrid American/British accent.

They're not all bad...the spoken word up in the highlands and islands can be quite beautiful I think.

It's in the cities where it goes a bit wrong...Dundonian can be particularly bad.

Haggis sounds quite alright to me, I'd love to try it sometimes.

Here in Norway (one of) our national dishes is called "Fårikål" (directly translated: "Sheep(Får) in(i) Cabbage(kål)"), which basically is a sheep caserole, made with cabbage and lots of whole grains of pepper. Its one of the easiest dishes to prepare, just stuff everything in and cook it a couple of hrs. I bet to foreigners it must, smell at least, like eating cooked shit but its one of my favourite meals.

But we have another "speciality", mostly served in the west of Norway, which is called "Smalahove".
I'm so outgrossed even by looking at pictures of this dish. I'm not a veggie by no means, but CMON, eating the part of the animal which could stare back at you (if it was alive of course). I'm sure other countries have their freakish dishes, but this has to be one of the most disgusting dinners I can think of. The connoisseurs of this madness even says eating the eyes is the best part. *reaches for the bucket*

It probably has some kind of prion disease, thus, when you eat its brain, it gets the last laugh. I am sure that is what is going on.
