The 600+ Quest: The Lost World

Postby Ace Rimmer » Wed Feb 28, 2007 8:55 pm

Survivor again. This time game was a bit of a surprise. 5x minimum speed game, 200m pop

At Defcon 1, Rekno (N. America) decides that he will not be effective enough to micro since the minimum speed is 5x and backstabs. I was totally unprepared for this and had to turn around all my subs in the Pacific, which were heading to Australia. Rekno's entire navy was in the Pacific and I had only placed a small contingent there. Sooo.... after a "sorry..." from Rekno, we have an all out nuclear exchange. Amazingly, Mexico doesn't get a scratch. I think he was focused on my installations that were all in the far south. I.e., Mexico was totally defenseless.

Being survivor, I stopped mid tracks hitting his silos and refocused totally on his cities. I was betting on having at least some amount of protection from what was left of his "shield" since mine was completely gone should we re-ally. This worked out quite well later when Quest for Glory began his campaign against our western coasts and those N. American silos stopped several nukes before reaching Central American cities. Afterwards, my arsenal was pretty much depleted and all but one of my silos were missing.

The whole time, I was privately warning Lithium to prepare for (or strike first at) countersmurf who would undoubtedly backstab and hit him. He didn't listen, and, well, you see what happened from the scoreboard. Initially, I was hoping to keep the focus off of me, but after N. America took me out, I was hoping to prevent a countersmurf win  . If only he'd listened...

At the very end, Rekno still had a couple of subs for Europe but no protection. Countersmurf allied with us (Rekno, ROFL, and I) and we privately planned to make a final stab at Europe. I had four battleships and three empty carriers and he had a mixed fleet. We combined our fleets and moved north under the cover of "helping" out with Russia's small presence. He started by launching several bombers from his carriers and I began attacking his battleships hoping he was looking the other way. Rekno nuked away a large portion and got a few launches off from his subs before countersmurf defected.

It was a great game by all. Too bad it was survivor, cause even in that game I was the leader in kills.

Welcome to the forums Rekno! :D Three words for you... All-Star Game

That game was 4-5 days ago no? Countersmurf mopped the floor with us. It was gruesome.

I've been watching smurf for a few games now. He's got great handling and micro but i think he lacks greater strategic vision hehe
