The 600+ Quest continues...

Postby Ace Rimmer » Fri Feb 23, 2007 6:37 am

Well, I was the host for two games. The first game I set the population to 200 and off we went. I didn't place to0 high because I focused on Africa so much, I forgot to try for points. I had 8 subs heading for S. America but didn't get there in time. (game over) They were stationed off of Australia and when I ordered them east, they went south. I didn't correct it till it was too late and the game was drawing to a close. Oh well. Congrats to Sarp for a perfect (0.0m deaths) game!

The next game I set the speed to 5x, 200m, and no defection. Nobody formed an alliance so it was FFA the whole game. I had a shaky cease fire with Asia till the end. I put all twelve subs and eight battleships for cover in the Atlantic and at Defcon 1 cross fired at Europe and S. America. Amazingly, there was no enemy navy to defend against. Towards the end of the game someone stated that I couldn't be allowed to have 500+ as a score and I went  ? Sure enough I was over 500. It wasn't long before two or three different colored nukes and bombers began reining down destruction over Africa (me). I ended up with 170 something m. deaths, but enough kills to score 494. In my excitement, I failed to get a final screenshot, perhaps one of the other players did? ROFLamingo commented later while we were both spectating another game that he saw the score, so he can vouch for it. It was extremely entertaining.

My quest for a 600+ score definitely got a boost of enthusiasm as that's the highest I've ever scored. Had Zenon-294 (Asia) not kept some naval units in the Indian, I believe Hong Kong would have provided enough points via bombers to put me back over 500. Beholder was USSR, Cenema158 was S. America, Hank Scorpio USA, and New Player Europe.

Congrats to Zenon-294 for I believe only 47m deaths in a 200m pop game, with no allies.

Too bad I couldn't upload the 1280 x 1024 I have... stupid ImageShack only takes files up to 1.5 MB (the image is 3.8 ).

You need to convert the .bmp files into .jpg files first before you upload them to imageshack (or anywhere else), then they'll be MUCH smaller.

I also reduce the size to 750x600, but that's optional.

I guess it's time that I sign up the forums - regular in Defcon since September, but only lurked in the forums, never posted.

Congrat's to Ace for that game, he did a fair few surprise shots with some obvious backhanded cease fires allowing his nukes to surprise me. He was Africa, and I was the USA, and I saw red Africa nukes coming from the Europe direction (natural arching).

I look forward to seeing you reach 600, and I have some screenshots on my laptop at work which I'll post up. If you have MSN, feel free to add me (sponkerage@hotmail.com), or you can email mgraham@cig.com.au if you'd like to have a game!

I pretty much only play at the time we played today, which is during work hours here in Australia.

Best wishes

Pfft! It's not like I TRIED to score 600+.

Now I will make a focused effort.

Please upgrade the scales, NeoThermic.
A Gazillionth score coming right up. ;-)

But how many cities in that last screenie, KudrigY? 3?

Childs play.

The first one is a little better, but your southern border puzzles me. It indicates you were playing a CPU all game since NONE of
your cities were hit, which gives your #1 ranking a bitter sweet taste. Im not trying to steal your wind, but massacring a CPU isnt considered anything but target practice. ;-)

Ohhhh snap. Good point.

There's gotta be at least 15 cities to qualify. The 664 game does not qualify. That 660 game looks legit on cities, but it really looks weird seeing as Lukas had but 16m kills and his CPU ally had zero.

I'm thinking v1.4 needs "ROFLamingo Mode", or something that qualifies the game for "ROFLamingo Hall of Fame".

15+ cities
6 human players
No player may score 0 kills.
All players must place a full compliment of installations/ships (var units permitted).
No team switching
Random Territories
100 worldscale
Any pop is fine so long as we pro-rate the score to 200 pop. E.g. 320 on 100 pop = 640 on 200 pop.

I also think that all games need all missile launches and their targets/hits/misses need to be dumped to a text file. That's the only way things will ever hold up to scrutiny. Maybe you think this is ultraserious, but I wanna know A. who had the best undeniable legit game and B. who can throw up constant awesome scores (500+ on 200 pop or 250+ on 100 pop). I think this would tell you who the most awesome players are.

I mean if you want to get an asterisk, do something like this. And this wasnt even trying hard.

I'll leave you with the funniest video I've seen this month. If you play games for killing millions of people, you'll LOVE this.

For the first screenie:

Come on, U "blame" me for other players stupidity??? ROTFL.

I killed 5 of asian silos in like first 5 minutes of game play. And that was end of the story for (MAD) Beavy. I killed his land based bombers then, and since I probably (I dont remember correctly...) put my BS fleet near Tokio and 75% of his carrier fleet went byebye - he just quit.

Such scores does not happen on a daily basis, and I am sure, that those are not possible if no enemy mistakes are made.

BTW. Have you noticed that those were people at some point, not CPU ??? They have [LEFT] tag in the end, not [CPU].

Second screenie was just childish play, yes, but very fine game too...

And I didnt write anything OMG I OWN THIS GAME, U SUXX or anything that stupid (couse it would be stupid, we have never met in battle, so no way to evaluate each other's skill), so why do you complain about my screenies??? Those were just few nice ones. And believe me, I have many more equally good out of my 400+ victory screenies in 6ppl games...

PS. Admit it, you are just a bit jealous:))

PS2. So, my 664 pts screenie is in the lead, and if you complain that "they coulde have hit you more" or "weird, you have your cities intact" have I remind my old topic with my screenies with victories and no deaths (really 0.0)?

PS2. I wonder when we will see a "perfect" screenie with 800+ pts. I think that at least few defcon communities have man power to make a game like this (for those less inteligent or after 8hrs of work: notice tags...), and if you control all 6 ppl, wonder games could be made:

damn, I always forget that internet boards have "irony&messinaroundwithya"-filters.

You seem to take my "assault" just a little too seriously. It was just a TAUNT.
Nothing more. No need to go ballistic over some freakin' numbers.;-)

But Im gonna!
Gonna be the first man to reach 1000 points AND have sex with the whole cheerleader squad at the same time.

Brought to you by Brawndo.

The beauty of the internet is that while anger is so obvious, sarcasm never is.

GG Man. I'll take your word that 660 is legit.

Edit: The 664 is gay. 3 city games don't qualify,
