Uber Diplomacy Victory!

Hey guys, I recently won my 1st diplo match; and I have to say that backstabbing at the right time is key

Two guys left the alliance, N & S America, but the rest of us stuck together and beat up on them for awhile...
I sustained about 5.7 mil casualties due to temporary loss of radar..
Eventually we kicked out SAsia since he had several bombers on very suspicious headings towards Africa, I was Europe..
I'm in a close second place with Africa... and he has some bombers headed towards Russia 'through' me.. so either a strike or a convinent excuse to backstab..
I backstabb and hit BOTH an UNTOUCHED Moscow, Leningrad, and Cairo!
I felt bad, until I hit 1st place with a considerable margin, however the victory timer hadn't started yet... uh oh
But then I team back up with SAsia and manage to thwart all attacks.
Near the end, Africa joins I guess to be on the winning 'side'
End score: 1st place 139.8 Mil kills, 5.7 Mil Deaths, .1 Collateral and 70 Nukes.

I love diplomacy :) and Kudos to Jim (Russia) for a well played game :) !

The question remains: are you called Matt, or Luke? Or neither?

I played in this game (KnG as Africa).

Matt played great.

What helped was an over committed alliance USSR (Jim) player and weak NA and SA players. And he mopped both up!

It was a game that was action packed and came down to Matt's cool head.

Matt also caught my last minute desperate bomber attack ...... :(

I was trying to get any points I could to get into 2nd or 3rd place, but messed up logistics on Euro attack and one on USSR.... I only wanted 2nd......

But for Africa... I didn't think that score was too bad.

BTW: roflamingo is a good player

- keep.

Clearly not enough SRBM were used 120 seconds after Defcon 1.

@shinygerbil: In game, I'm called Matt; but here Im luke02

@keepngoal: Thanks for the compliments, I actually didn't think you were going to attack *me*, but it was sure a good excuse :) !
Although I think S&N America weren't weak... they just left too soon and failed to recruit anyone to their alliance; although they did offer me a 'chance' to join and I refused since I'd be a lone man surrounded by baddies; but then I later joined and left for radar (Diplomacy can be really really cold at times) after which I marked their silos on the white board (thanks IV!!)

Although KnG, why did you re-join me? Not only did I dash your hopes for victory, but joining me would make sure that you couldn't at least get second place since my other ally and I had higher scores than you.

@Cheesecake: I miss your meaning, yes there weren't any subs off my coast that launched, and I wiped out KnG's bomber attack, but I dont really understand, lol

Not bad. Keep up the good work, and keep on improving. It's very possible to win "perfectly" on diplomacy more than any other mode, depending on how effectively you talk to others. The first part is convincing them to help you. The second is convincing them that hey, second isn't all that bad, and that they should help you achieve the perfect score.

And how would that prove it wasn't diplomacy?

It wouldnt prove it completely but there is almost always a green player or team left at the end of diplomacy.

Anyway it is default, it says so above the score board
