You sure? I had steam on my laptop, didn't have my password saved, and decided to activate it to play HL2. I was not at home, and had no net access where I was. Worked fine.
And in this time of Trojans and worms, anyone with half a bloody brain has enough firewall and decent antivirus and insurance to cover themselves in case of something going wrong.
neither Personal Firewalls nor Anti-Virus-Applications protect you enough to trust your system.
