And in the time of Trojans and Worms, who in their right mind would save the password to a 100$+ investment ?

You sure? I had steam on my laptop, didn't have my password saved, and decided to activate it to play HL2. I was not at home, and had no net access where I was. Worked fine.

And in this time of Trojans and worms, anyone with half a bloody brain has enough firewall and decent antivirus and insurance to cover themselves in case of something going wrong.

neither Personal Firewalls nor Anti-Virus-Applications protect you enough to trust your system.

Sounds like someone made a mistake in their past and paid the price for it.

Steam confirmed, and for $15 too:

Introversion, the award-winning, maverick developer of the hit PC game, Darwinia, will be releasing its eagerly-awaited third title, DEFCON, in September 2006 via Steam and at retail outlets around the globe for $14.95. Uplink is now available as a stand-alone title via Steam for just $9.95 and is also included with Darwinia, the 2006 Independent Developer Festival winner, for a package price of $19.95.

To chime in on the current discussion: you do not need your password saved for offline mode, you do not need to know about needing it beforehand unless you aren't storing login data, and all stored login stuff is both encrypted and tied to your specific machine.

$15 is about £8...

Which is rediculously cheap

But with Steam you don't get a CD sent out to you also.

There will probably be a reduction, I wouldn't worry.

For the lazy, Uplink's page in the Steam Store. You'll need to restart Steam if you had it running before the game was added or clicking the purchase button won't do anything.

okay, thanks guys.
BTW, if you sometimes get extremely paranoid (especially when tired), don't try to read something on a forum, that you really don't understand anything, while listening to the science news on gameshout radio, I have a sense that it makes you go insane.

Was that off-topic?
It is great that war is so terrible... Otherwise, we may get to fond of it...

Yeah, but the comment was in reference to the Mac version, which is sold by ASW. It is download only. I doubt it will get any cheaper...

I wish I had a lot of disposable income. Remember, I teach for a living...
