Introversion

Firstly i'm an old school player who has chosen to remain anon in this post, due to the delicate nature of peoples egos.

I think the defcon community has become a awful place [removed] since FY took it upon himself to set up a ranking system.
I also think that some players have used this so called ranking system to act [removed] and it has called unrest in this community.
So many arguments and now someones suggesting a FY tourney!

Well I think its no longer any fun and as a result the board has become overrun with trolls [removed].
Its also SUBJECTIVE and as a result its useless as a real gauge of how good players may or may not be.

A ranking system needs to be OBJECTIVE and not a players opinion.

But its not for me to say, like yourself i only bought the game I am not admin or working for introversion its just my personal opinion, so I say let the community decide.

If you think FY's ranking system is seriously flawed and does not reflect real rankings and causes more problems than its worth vote REMOVE

It's easy to blame F.Y in defcon community problems.
But the main problem here is members themselfs,their attitude and relationships.They don't need a reason for starting their "smart" talks.
Someone here is very happy to be troll,others offended poor girl,and so on.
But F.Y cares about all of u,he wishes to make everyday challenge more interesting,more competitive.
This ranking offended u? Then man up,and realize this anger to impoves ur own play.
Do u want to act like a girl? Then continue to make this kind of topics and try to kill the last hot topic.
Defcon is alive and will be when at least some people cares about it and doing something.
What u did,old guard,to improves relationships between members? Or maybe u did something for forums? I bet no attempts were done.

the ranking idea is for fun and more lively for the community.
also only the listed players should have the right to vote against the ranking.

Work on a new way of ranking players based on real data not this subjective nonsense.

If i could write it I would make something like a poker tracker which gathers info from the servers and ranks on key ID.

Sadly I cannot, I wish i could but surely players here have the skills the data's right there on the lfo,sfcon webpages??

I may have been harsh on FY,I understand he has done hard work in his own time and he may not like what I am saying.

But I believe that his system of ranking players is flawed and it has caused friction.

Its like there is a private " old boys club" of people which bicker constantly in the forums and then team up to grief noobies.

Its not a personal attack on FY but there's a horrible atmosphere here and i think that the unofficial ranking has been a contributor to it.

I don't recall seeing this under the rankings table? has this been added too to make it seem bad?

I think it's good to know who are best and most skilled players are,as long as the rankings are fair. I am new to the forums,but not this great game. Its fun to play against the best players on Defcon. FY wants to do the rankings ,then he should be allowed too do it. I will vote yes.

Let him do his new regular professional ranking. It will be like an opposition between all the boxing belts ^^. Why not! All the great compet began like it. Even in chess! I'm just permitting myself to agree partly with an assomption of this anonymous guy. About the "old boy club" wich i call the "old guard". It's easier for us to stick together, yeah that's right. But after 1000 games you are tired of giving lessons to noobs there are more pretentious that you'll never will be. I play regularly with these new players. I have fun with them (notice i milited with other guy for a defcon school. Most of players than you call old boys, wrote fabulous azrticle there and did excellent videos about ides you'll never have. Never.). But most of them knows all even before you speak. Plays irregularly and some times are offensive against you. I'm tired of that. really. I don't give any real importance to ranking. But i like to see me in this. Why? Because for a new player, wich has seen it is more often open to hear you and be a respectable player than without. I have no more pity for them. I'm open like the most of the old guard to play with anyone. We're not a clan or a club. It's all open. But i joined the idea of MrMot. No more pity. The harsh way is the best way. What do you thin we did at the beggining. It was the hard school. Everyone new could became a respected player. I think particularly to newer players than me like R3D or Laïka. And finally i dont' see why it's a problem for you. Everyone is welcome. But we keep the privilege of the lenght of service and the right to an ego trip when in the mood. The horrible atmosphere about what you're speaking is probably more given by this sort of futile criticism (do your ranking list and speak after) than by such a futile ranking list. About potential harassment. We are here to fight. It's a kind of competitive game. That's the matter. You can't avoid it. And sometimes (i said sometimes) you have no other way to make understable your own usefull criticism to another player. Luckily, we have exceptionnal moderators (= 10$, ty in pm.). I'm personnaly less agressed by old players even when i dont' know them (provocations are ok until a certain point - psychological warfare) than by the "noobs". Finally there is two king of games: serious and free. Serious game have lots of tension. As i remember i know what it did to play with an ally wich has not idea of what means the "cooperation". There are there elaborate strategies, incredible turn over, special tactics, inventions (like the recent use of blind nuking rule or anti blind nuke system). You know what. That's all possible because ther are on the forum such a list where player plays for the first place and do extreme thing on tourney. WITH OLD BOYS/GIRLS like us.

Finally we saw recently players wich totally do not care about other peoples, think that, because we are behind a cpu, we are no more human and everything is possible. Oh man, most of them are new players and i dont' want to be their parents. And have no life to act such a so childish way. It's nice we can keep old players there and have fun together. But there is a difference between sport and real life. I'm sure you understand it in your far far wise understandability! Long time ago we did a list to punish players they screw game. Because it's screw our pleasure. It's screwing our time. I dont' permit anyone to lose my time. I do it myself very well. And i choosed it.

Like a very appreciated member of the old guard said a day: "I love you all". Fight with this spirit. The rest is futile.
