Pictures of Where We Live

Postby cza » Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:02 am

Hope we can limit this thread to pics as much as possible. I'm curious about where you all are and what you see in your day to day. I went down to Pitchfork today to sit outside the fence and listen to a band I like. On the way home, sunset was approaching; since I promised some of you a picture, I walked a half-mile past my apartment to North Avenue Beach and took this shot about four hours ago.

And some editing to show where I live.

Skyline – The sky is blue! (Rare in winter :?)

The City is a blend of the ultra-modern and classical architecture (think like - Gotham city: D – in fact we were almost named that! 8) )

You've seen this one before -I'm looking at you stalker ace :D (rooftop from very close to where I live)

Well, with my attitude that modernity sucks I'll move some day into this street ( http://obrazku.cz/obr736014_nerudova2.jpg , bottom part is cut off to avoid cars from 21th century spoil impression of the street originaly from 13th century). It's old Lesser town, most of buildings are from renaissance and baroque period (mostly 16th, renovated in 18th, oldest originaly preserved ones of romanic style from 11th century http://obrazku.cz/obr736051_BazilikaSvathoJi.jpg ), gas street lamps have authentic design from 1847 (disgustingly modern, isn't it?).
My deepest satisfaction would be to live here ( http://obrazku.cz/obr736036_zl1.JPG , founded in 1597), but the last inhabitants left in 1953; it's full of bloody tourists now.

Lovely, just lovely all of you. And so many mountains! I worry about Groete though; I think soon he might send someone his ear in a box. I wish I could share all of facebook photos with you; I might have to start a flickr account *shudders*

Here is a blog of somebody living just around my corner.

http://egot24.wordpress.com/category/berlin/

If you scroll it, you fill find pictures of 1) a street festival 2) a demonstration of left-wingers/anarchists 3) a demonstration of neo-nazis
Its not that crowded every day, but pretty often. Its never really quiet.

Very nice, Senator and Jon. Thanks!

Senator, with all those people running around, you really ought to start signing some of them up to play Defcon and grow our player base!

rusMike, it is no wonder you are a good player. With that weather, I think I would stay inside and work on my tactics too.

I live in a place like this:
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... 06_008.JPG

Probably the one of the worse places to live in Sofia (the students town). Hopefully I will move soon to a better place.

There are of course much prettier buildings in the city:
http://www.bulgariatravel.bg/Sofia_02.jpg - People's Theater "Ivan Vazov" built 1906
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/c ... fia_TB.jpg - The National Assembly (our parliament) built 1884
http://www.vks.bg/english/images/Sadebna-Palata.jpg - the Supreme Court built 1940.

But where will you put all your books? Or some of mine? Let's sacrifice 25 in the name of knowledge.

So you want endless complaining about not being able to nuke Jerusalem or Tel Aviv?
